A pity Archie Knox didn't
Explain please? Havnt heard about this. Heard he used to patrol around with a bat tho..
The interview with Michael Ball in @alan ball's book, he gives the full story of that.Michael's days at Everton were numbered, along with big Dicky Dunne's, when Knox took exception to the two young lads laughing at the back of the team bus after we had lost a League Cup tie away to, I think, Swindon Town.
Knox never spoke to Michael again and he was gone by the time the next season started.

Really? That's disappointing ... thought he could have been so much better than he ended up being... I knew his knees weee ruined by Everton but didn't know about that
His reaction both in the last minute of that Coventry game in 1998 and at the final whistle to me is the definition of 'getting' the club.I was a huge fan of ball. One of the best talents I've seen come through the ranks at Everton. I remember the back to back games against Henry & hassilbank. Playing centre back because of injuries. If my memory is right we won both games and ball had hassilbank in his pocket, who was so frustrated got sent of for attempting to butt ball late on.
He was so unlucky through his career. First with us and Walter getting rid of all the youngsters. Then at rangers [Poor language removed] advocat blaiming him every time rangers lost. As his 3 other defenders were. Dutch. I Remember him having a bust up with advocat once after he was substituted. When advocat left he was fantastic for a couple of seasons. I could be wrong but I'm sure he won Scottish player of the year.
Then he was left out of the team again, as it came out if he played one more game they would owe us the final payment of the transfer and they were skint.
So he went to PSV. Had another great season they won the league. The manger left and advocat got the job. And he was dropped from the team. My memory is a little sketchy, as it was 20yrs ago but I'm sure his career played out a bit like that
Obviously injuries played a big part. But he was so composed at young age and technically brilliant

Holgate and Williams starting CB's. Needs to be done.
Williams is right footed. He plays on the left because Jagielka is also right footed, same way Jags moved to the left when playing with Stones. At Swansea and for Wales, he was/is the senior centre-back, so will be moved around to accommodate less experience players.Mori and Williams are both left sided so Holgate is surely the only option now.
Need to pray that he comes in and is good so he keeps his place and develops.
