Seems most are missing the point that he played RB out of necessity, Kenny couldn't play another game this quickly after bournemouth where he had a nightmare due to the busy schedule making recovery for a younger inexperienced player difficult.

No back up FB's and he even hinted in the press conference Holgate might have to play FB should anything happen to Kenny and Martina but he'd prefer to play him centrally.

Holgate sat out a couple, freshened up and would have been CB with Williams but clearly Kenny wasn't fit enough to start the game.

Only other option would have been McCarthy or Davies at RB but we've not seen Big Sam mess about with midfielders in defence like Koeman and Martinez.

Still at a loss why he was left out.

At an even bigger loss why he was played at fullback given his track record there of being completely ineffective and vulnerable.

If we are content with being in the bottom half yes. Otherwise he is absolutely not fine. The lad is a centre half and potentially a decent one.

Looks to me that our best centre back (Holgate) had been rested and was asked to play right back as our best full back (Kenny) was rested.

Nothing to see here...Holgate and Kenny first choice going forward.
