DCL, Kane. Richarlison, Gbamin, Gomes and Sigurdsson all missing. We were away at old Trafford with more than half a team missing.

I hate the result, but it doesn’t surprise me at all. We had no front line.

The signings have been "fine" in a they wont be awful way. I actually think Gray has a lot to offer.

But they wont be transforming us either.

This usually works better at the start of pre season. You normally want to look at least half decent and up to the task in your last pre season game before the season starts.

It is indeed only a training game but there are some very worrying signs regardless.

The thing for me with Gray is how some think he will make a difference for us even though he was crap at the clubs before us.

I’m not reading too much into preseason games as we rarely perform in them.

Alex Iwobi needs binning though, and we need the England Pickford, not the everyday one.

It's only a friendly I know but there's no up side to getting whacked 4-0 at the Theatre of Shoite a week before the season starts.

no, not desperate to hate, just want the type of quality player who instead of a blammo in front of goal when there is no need too they use their head.

I think the result is good for us because maybe it will get our DOF and Mosh Pit off their bums and signing some deals. In reality preseason means next to nothing but if there is already some hostility before Benitez even starts the season then that doesn’t spell well for the rest of the year.
