Matches where we fans have been a 12th man

One that I always mention about crowds is the Coventry league cup, 1-0 down, very small crowd, sub used and I think it was Sharpy basically playing with one leg, for some reason the crowd came alive, it felt like there was suddenly 1000s more there

Despite all the doom and gloom around the club after Carlo’s departure I really can’t wait to get back to Goodison. I only managed to get to the Grand Old Lady on one occasion during last season and it was a bit rubbish with only a few thousand fans there.

With the inaugural match of our 119th season in the top-flight almost upon us it got me thinking about matches where we fans have made a huge difference by really getting behind our players and making Goodison a difficult place for opposition teams to come to. Over the decades numerous Everton captains have spoken about how we Evertonians can be like the proverbial 12th man when we want to be.

One match that really springs to mind is Bayern Munich in 1985. As Howard Kendall said to the players: “Get the ball into the box, the Gwladys Street will suck the ball into the net.” And we did! Then there was Man Utd in 2005, the result that pretty much guaranteed us 4th spot. It was so deafening in the Lower Bullens I couldn’t hear myself from think!
Sunderland away FA cup replay great night to be a blue

that has been wrecking my head, thinking who we played that game only 9000 there that night, your right the crowd were like raving lunatics that game.
We brought about 3000 to Forest the Saturday after the coppers got legged out of are end,

Yeah it was Coventry, think Reid came on as sub won a crunching tackle and the crowd suddenly woke up, when atmosphere gets mentioned it's one I always recall, obviously everybody remembers the Munich game or Stoke away, but that just sticks in my head

Everton v Man City, City were all over us but we were fighting, we were 1-0 and hanging on in the dying seconds then this happened.
I've never witnessed a build up to a goal at Goodison like it, you just sensed it was on with the first pass out of defence and the crowd played their full part.

The silent pause before the goal is ace, then limbs!...great that day.
