Ok, so what sort of midfield setup could he play in? Who would he play alongside? What formation?

Who is going to receive the ball off the centre backs? Who is going to retain possession?
Who is going to win the ball back or keep shape? Who is going to match up against the physicality of Premier Leauge level midfielders?

Anyone can sign good players but you need to have a role in mind for them and know how they'll fit in with what you've got.

You'd have to ask the manager that... Err wait a minute . :)

Well for me we have no player who can carry a ball from deep so he could easily play with Allan covering when he moves forward after collecting the ball off the Centre backs. For keeping shape Allan or a new dm/Gbamin could thrive in this set up.

In regards to physicality, he looks like a big lad who has pace so he should be ok with the PL. Its a gamble but its the type of risk we should be taking

Has anyone ever actually seen him play?

He's a promising player, central midfielder, can ball carry and get in the box.

However, does he fill any obvious need in the Everton squad? Nope.

Think he does myself, pace, we're lacking, beat a man were lacking and obviously mobile, again lacking, there's three.

Still need a sitter I think, Allan looks best in the role I’d expect this lad to play

Ive seen him play (to much horror)...

@Timak Nailed it...hes a "promising" player.

For me, he needed another season in portugal and starting regular games before you can really judge him.

As with Tom Davies coming off the bench for us and getting the odd game when others are injured...hes had 14 games worth of league minutes last season (Davies had 16 games worth of minutes).

So hard to judge based on watching the odd match.

My guess is that for €18mil / £15.5mil Brands sees him as a squad player and is hoping he improves over the season.

Certainly not a signing I would have made...if it was me id have gone straight for Kamara (Marseille) for defensive midfield or Tchouameni from Monaco / Guimaraes from Lyon etc etc etc

With this and the Dumfries links it seems like were going for players that we are gambling will be good.

Id rather we just went for starters but perhaps we dont want to spend much money.

As posted by others, we still need a defensive midfielder...though im hoping with Nunes joining it means we move on Delph and Gomes....then it makes more sense.
