The only thing I can think of is that Burnley want/demand the clause is 100% upfront, but will take a higher bid over a few years. Not sure they can do that mind.

That could happen.
Ultimately it will be down to where the player wants to go.

Really? Not saying I have seen all of Burnley's games. But surely he improves us when we have Solomon Rondon as a back up forward and a lack of threat out wide? Obviously we need to be prudent with funds but we also desperately need a forward.
