Think that’s the case, Fulham wanted him on a £5m loan then pay £20m next summer, Forest have been put off paying the full clause, we’ve been the closest putting £14.5m up front but they still won’t go for it. I think it’s to do with money owed to Lyon

The player has agreed terms with us - Burnley are not interested in hire purchase terms to buy him .....he has a 17.5 million buy out clause - we offered 20 million on the drip - thats the stumbling block if reports are correct ....

His agent will be no fool. He’s just had a decent season in the top flight and his team have been relegated. The agent was probably praying for it. Burnley will want to sell him and he has the chance to get a very nice long term deal at a club with more commercial exposure.
If he stays and doesn’t score in the championship that 60k a week contract is 40k a week by Jan, and 25k a week by next summer. This is his moment!
Unless another premier league team comes in for him, offering the same terms, he’s playing for us by September.
That’s is if we’re still interested.

West ham will not pay the full release clause either...they have spent a lot of money already so they will be looking after their pennies going forward especially as its not that certain that rice will leave this summer.

What ever happens, I don't believe he will stay with Burnley. In their financial position, I don't think they can afford his wages in the championship. Do I think he'll end up here? I don't know, but, he won't stay at Burnley and it seems, up to now,our offer is the best they've had.
