You don't seem to grasp that IT WON'T AFFECT THE DESIGN OF THE STADIUM.

In EXACTLY the same way that when the Tony Bellew fight was held on the pitch at Goodison, transforming the stadium into a boxing arena was TEMPORARY.

The new stadium is being built as a football stadium with steep stands close to the pitch, as you will see when the designs are revealed.

There's no debate or sides to be taken over this. Either you understand these basic facts or you don't.
You don't seem to grasp that if you build a football stadium with stands close to the pitch, you can't accommodate a running track. I agree with BLF, this has ruined the ground for me. I'd rather stay at Goodison than play in a soulless bowl.

Yeah cos your privy to the full dealBill has struck with this speculator aren't you. A guy who has been hiding a Russian gangsters money for 20 years is going to be totally transparent for once.
Hahahahahahaha

The deal was done at the time he bought his 49.9%, I'm sure he was going to pay Bill a premium on the remainder after he'd invested £80m of his own cash onto the balance sheet.

Seriously...ffs.

Luckily for you the plan is to keep Goodison.

You can sit there with your rattle and a bag of Everton mints all misty eyed whilst the rest of us are down Bramley Moore watching the blues steamroller teams out of the way.

Enjoy mate.

Look at Tottenham's new ground. That is what we should be aiming for (minus the stupid glass tunnel and fromagerie obviously)

Have it your own way. Bill has been trying for 20 years to get a new stadium off the ground, and is well aware of the sort of increase it will generate. But he just handed over the whole train set and any future profit like the naive fool that he is. It's just a coincidence that he's still running things, and cos they get on so well and he just loves the club. Yes the extra hundred million would hav been nice, but he wouldn't dream of wanting to benefit from a new stadium uplift going forward, why would he?

At this moment in time you cannot state definitively that it can't be done. Dan Meiss has said it can be done, and since he is the vastly experienced architect actually designing the thing , we could at least extend to him the benefit of doubt until the plans are revealed. Unless you are also, as many others on here seem to be , a fully qualified architect experienced in stadium builds , in which case I'll defer to your reservations.
The commonwealth games is a major sporting event ,and it would bring prestige and draw attention to our great city, and I would be proud that our club would be central to that. Let's just wait to see the solutions before we cast judgement. I feel that a lot of people are going to look foolish and impatient when the plans are revealed. If it's a poor compromise I'll gladly join the fume, until then I shall remain sanguine and optimistic.

Yeah Hampden is crap, but that running track is in there permenantl and it was purpose built to be that way

You can build a football ground and temporarily take out some seats to fit a track in before putting those seats back in
If the length of a football pitch is about 112 metres, and the length required for an athletics track is 169m, does that
mean the minimum length of the area of the seats to be removed is over 30m at both ends, and they will have to be on the same level as the pitch? You can't have a running track that goes uphill at both ends, can you?

So much for the steep, close to the pitch stands, then.

I do work in the industry ( not architecture or construction). I know you can put seats in the area next to the pitch and take them out. The issue is with the risers. We may have concrete stands with retractable seating units that go underneath. We may have seating blocks that can be assembled and disassembled. One thing that we cannot have is 4 permanent stands with seating down to the pitch. The " least worst' option would be retractable seating that could go underneath the stands and allow the stadium to be used for athletics. However, the fact that Joe Anderson says conversion will cost £28 million tells me that there will be removable seating units on all 4 sides.

I'll be sceptical until it's confirmed that the track won't be a problem. As should you be. Instead you are cheerleading.

Hello mate, your last paragraph seems to suggest that you believe anyone concerned about the running track is being a bit thick.

@GrandOldTeam expressed these concerns at the start of the thread.

Dangerous ground this and very close to calling fans 'bedwetters' in a veiled fashion.

Maybe climb down off your high horse, admit you were wrong about the stadium not having a running track and we can all try to move past this unsavoury episode.
