Strange one but as someone else said, Gana proved to be a good buy after initial doubts so let's wait and see.
Currently we play with three forwards despite each having different roles.
Koné and Valencia are gone. Niasse will be given away or back in the reserves. Barkley and Lukaku are very likely being sold.
That will potentially leave us with:
Mirallas / Lookman
Sandro (?) / Calvert-Lewin
Bolasie (inj) / Niang
That's okay on numbers but missing a central striker because Calvert-Lewin is just a kid.
If we kept Lukaku or signed someone else that forward department wouldn't look bad.
Or even replace Barkley with Sigurdsson and use Sandro or Niang centrally.
Coutinho didnt make it at Inter either. Some of the best players moved clubs and were poor, Shevchenko, Veron, Torres, Kaka to name a few.
Sometimes a player just fits a club, hopefully thats the case with him and us. He did say that at Milan he had 6 managers in 4 years, all with different methods and styles which made it hard to get any consistency, especially as a young player so maybe a settled team will do him the world of good.
Plus im sure Walsh/Koeman will have researched his personality and spoke to people who have played/worked with him and if they are happy enough to bring him in, then we should give him a chance.
Would you? Would you really?
Congrats, maybe you should call Steve Walsh and Koeman up and ask them for a job as a scout.
"Niang has never scored more than 5 goals in a season"
I would counter with Niang scored 3 goals in 4 starts in his debut season at the age of 16 for Caen. And that he has managed a maximum of 17 starts in the league in a season to date, so 5 is not so disgraceful. And also that he's been employed on the right-wing (probably due to his age, just like managers like employing young centre-backs at right-back when they're young to ease them in).
He has amassed a total of 8562 minutes in his career for various clubs in the champions league and league games to date. That averages to 95 ninety-minute matches, and if you consider that, and the fact he plays right-wing, not striker every time, and has played in 3 different countries, then 24 goals in 95 matches in not so bad for a 22-year-old! His physique, height, and technique make him a player with huge potential. Not saying he'll be a Thierry Henry but who knows?
I end with this, Thierry Henry scored 31 goals in his first 160 appearances for Monaco and Juventus in his first 5 seasons as a professional footballer. Then he failed to score in his first 8 games for Arsenal!
You are Davek. Aren't you ? come on admit it.Can I remind you all we had a chance to sign this guy for 5m five years ago.. yet he swerved us
Now five years on.. no longer a prospect and has proven himself to be poor infront of goal, hes come running back now hes not a big time and we are prepared to pay 3 times more
Haha Everton that
Nope. OkakaWas this the guy who scored v Watford away ?
hope we are not judging on that as we played awful that day!
Everton wouldn't employ someone who knew who to buy well. That wouldn't be Everton
LOL. I'm all for optimism. But you can't create false scenarios... This did not happen.
Same question i pose to others who are so negative about the club and this is considering we have been in darker times but why do you still follow the team if they are poor at everything? Why not give up at this rate? If its all negative for you all of the time and again we have been through worse much worse. Why put yourself through it?
That's what a Kopite would say. You don't just give up
