If fit, I would play Johnson and McFadden up front on Thursday.

This might encourage the others not to lump long balls to them. Its worth considering that Anichebe unsettled them when he came on at Goodison too.

Tough choice but right now, I'd start with Yak and Faddy and depending on where things are at halftime, bring on AJ.

You know they're gonna bunker it in and hold out for a 0-0 draw so the real question is will the midfield be able to break them down?

I think you'll see one way traffic quite a bit.

agreed, they'll attack but we play well on the break.

Tough to call this one. I'm crossing my fingers and praying to God, Allah and Jehovah, possibly the reverend Moon

Without wishing to draw unfair comparisons his primary job, in my eyes at least, is to score goals. Michael Owen doesn't run around much but if you give him chances he'll score you goals. If we're completely honest with ourselves much of our play this season would even make someone like Owen look second rate.

Now I havn't seen enough of Yakubu whilst he was at Portsmouth and Boro to know his precise style of play but we must surely assume that Moyes does and sees him as a good fit for how he sees the team developing over the medium to long term. It's hard to imagine that Moyes wants us playing as we have done recently so perhaps with time both what Moyes wants and what Yakubu needs will come together.
I think thats spot on. Strikers all have different styles and the Yak has produced loads of goals by hanging around and getting into scoring positions without running himself inside out. We obviously expect him to up his workrate and like you said, in time Yak and Moyes will fit each others plans properly on the pitch.

For Metalist match I think any combination that contains McFadden will be very good, especially with Arteta on our side, who is almost unknown to them, we could be controlling this game nicely if Arteta plays well.

I do not think they will sit back and try and defend the away goal, I think they will come at us.

Man I hope that's the case because we'll peel 'em apart if they get spread out.

I don't think they will though. Maybe the odd counterattack here and there but I don't see them getting too adventurous.

Very positive about getting through, cant see us falling at this hurdle again, i reckon 2-1, couldn't give a [Poor language removed] who scores. COYB

I think we'll throw up a clean sheet.

So the question is how many, if any, do we score. We can't not score or we're done so, if we get one and hold 'em to 1-0, we go through.

We just have to get a goal and early. Even if we suffer and let them get one goal first, we just need that one to be more back in it than we would have been at the start of the game.

faddy was brilliant on the weekend... as for the euro game ill start him but would also start yak and johnson... dunno if moyes will move him out to the right hand side or drop nev back to right back but we deffo need an attacking team
