I didn’t think there’s any sort of anti monarchy movement in the city when you actually go and see real life.

Loads of people love them. Most of my family do.

People were crying in work when the news broke.

It’s just attention seekers on twitter all patting themselves on the back. People with twitter handles like ‘scouse republic’ and all that nonsense.

I’m not a fan of them myself but I cringe at all the performative nonsense from people in this city.

Just a question, I'm not for or against, more puzzled how something this antiquated has such staying power and a hold over so much of a western republic. But every country has their things, we've got our guns lol.

Anyways, isn't the crying in the street just as much performative nonsense as the twitter warriors? Perhaps you meant both with that statement, but seemed you were placing it more on the latter.

I'm not a monarchist, but you have to face up to the reality that, if we didn't have a monarch, we would have some failed politician calling him/herself President instead. And of course he/she would have to be held in reverence by us plebs and kept in luxury for the time of his/her tenure, plus we would be expected to put up with Presidential elections every 4 or 5 years. At least with a monarchy the head of state is more or less self electing. And I don't think King Charles is any more or less embarrassing than Joe Biden, Macron, Trudeau or any of the others poncing around the world stage. Just my take on it. Anyway, cheese on toast.
Worse defence of a bunch of paedophile harbouring trillionaires ever.

Not necessarily. We could have a Lord Protector.

Personally I'd prefer a *genuinely benevolent* Dictator over any PM or Monarch.

Don’t think Charles will get the support and benefit of the doubt that the queen did. She had that sweet old lady and familiar face vibe going on with a lot of the population.
People less fond of charles

These people are serfs. They'll listen to the media and then love him to bits.

It's the English disease. Utter forelock touchers and cap doffers most of them.
