Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Definitely not the pregnant option. Far too old for that malarkey! You should try it- the piccalilli not pregnancy obviously lol. How's things with you?
Well it is a bit Letitia from Vicar of Dibley. lol

I have a portion frozen so I'll try a bit when I eat it. I suppose it's not much different to having pickled red cabbage or pickled beetroot with scouse. I've run out of my favourite Cornish Piccalilli so I'll need to stock up on that.

Having a mixed bag of a day Anj. Doing a lot of paperwork this morning to do with pensions, life insurance and Probate. I put the Beatles album on to cheer me up but it's made me a bit melancholy tbh. Cal and I were big fans and the guys who own the Cavern club were my clients and we used to get some great freebies there. The two that stick out were the after party following the Paul McCartney concert at the Kings Dock in 2003 and Cal's 50th when we got about 30 mates into the Cavern back room for their resident Beatles cover band, who were brilliant. Great memories.

Oh bless you. Music is very evocative as regards memories. I love The Beatles. I blame my very cool, then single, 60s chick auntie who adored them. She lived with my Nan and Grandad until she married aged 40 and had 4 children after that! Back on topic- when I would visit as a small child she would take me up to her room, show me all her new clothes and play all her latest records. I loved it, her and the music. Her other favourite was Roy Orbison and guess what - I have a massive soft spot for him too.
Well jealous of your after party and Cavern experiences. How cool is that? Enjoy the music, think of your lovely Cal and all the fab times you shared x

Reading between the lines it seems it might not be a good day for you Fred ,I know the majority of posts are rightfully to @messymascot but we are thinking about you too .
You will have days like this and if I could give any advice it depends on you what you want to do ,do you need to grieve some more or is it induced by the music ,if it is the latter then try this kid on the voice Australia a couple of years ago :-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iC573ga5pvI should help you think about something else .
Take care .

Oh I'm deffo still grieving mate. There isn't an hour passes when I don't think of her at some stage. It's going to take time, but I know and accept that. It's a matter of coping in the meantime and coming in here helps a lot with that.

Anyway, enough about me. Messy's absence this week has been very worrying.

Certain songs do trigger our emotions, don't they mate. I put together a playlist for my missus on Spotify recently, mainly because she's a bit of a technophobe and would never have got round to it herself, but also because I know what she likes and thought she'd appreciate it.

She tends to like a lot of retro stuff from as far back as the 60s, even 50s, or retro sounding stuff like Adele and Amy Winehouse. One of the songs on her playlist was Unchained Melody from the Righteous Brothers, which was the song we danced to on our wedding day. I walked into the living room one day as she was listening to music on her earphones and she had tears in her eyes. I guessed which song she was listening to. "Unchained Melody?" I asked and she nodded.

I've even listened to songs and been moved to tears just by how bloody brilliant they are. Very rarely I hasten to add, in case anyone thinks I burst into tears at every decent song.

After all those years with Cal, there'll be so many songs that remind you of her because you had so many happy years together. Maybe sometimes they'll make you smile and sometimes they'll make you cry. Those tears could be construed as sadness or they could be fond remembrance or any number of emotions, or just because it's a bloody good song.

I have a couple of songs on one of my playlists that remind me of my late sister, who died at 38. As soon as I hear them I think of her and smile, even though she got on my tits sometimes.

Don't feel that you're taking up too much of the thread. This is exactly what Messy wanted this thread to be used for.

That was a lot longer than I intended. We're here for you, Fred.
