Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning @messymascot and all the lovely people that visit this thread.

Sorry I haven’t stopped by to say hello the last couple of days but we had a family member that left this world on Monday so I have been mourning her passing with my family. But it is nice to be back and see you posting a lot more than in recent days. Hopefully this trend means that you can go back home soon enough ??

Sorry to hear that Sass

Thanks for all the touching messages. Reading the past few pages has really lifted my spirit. It has been a rough couple of days because my nephew’s Nana passed away as they had arrived in Colombia for their grandpa’s 80th birthday so a celebration turned into a funeral :( My ma is taking it really hard because Nana’s departure was so unexpected and because there is no way we can travel to Colombia at the moment as my mum is supposed to have a surgery next week. So the distance is making her departure even harder. Thankfully because of Zoom technology we have been able to participate in some of the services and events that have been planned, she was a devoted catholic so there is a lot of different mass gatherings that have been held until she gets buried on Sunday. It seems heaven must be in need of good women up there because it certainly seems that a lot of them have departed this year to go there ?

Que descanse en paz

Good morning everybody. How are you all doing. @messymascot hope you have a good day today and it is a step nearer going home. @Barnfred 55 ( now my AA twin!) I'm going to make your chilli tonight. Served with French bread and piccalilli. lol This morning's excitement has involved retrieving a blue tit from a) the cat's mouth b) from behind the radiator c) the cat's mouth again. Finally caught her and it in next doors garden. Blue tit took a few minutes of recovery time in my hand and then flew away - apparently unharmed but with a great story to tell his buddies " Guys I was sitting on this coconut minding my own business...." All before 9am. I'm exhausted.
Well done saving a blue tit ,one the most beautiful birds but because they are common they are not seen as special.

Sun's shining here for the first time in days. We get what we call mizzle down here. It's a cross between mist and drizzle and makes everything so gloomy at times when it hangs around for days on end. I'm going to celebrate by going for a walk this afternoon.

I've had a few good days paperwork wise. Completed the Probate documentation though they've said it could take upto 2 months to sort out. The travel insurance have confirmed this morning that they are paying out on the full claim. They have been absolutely brilliant from the outset to be honest. Got an email on Friday from Cals pension people confirming that there is a spouse pension which will be backdated to October 1st. They also said there could be a lump sum awarded on top due to the fact that she took her pension within the last 5 years. It's discretionary but fingers crossed; it all helps pay the bills. Much rather she was still here though obviously.

Couple of my best mates have confirmed that they will be coming down to visit at the end of this month and I'm really looking forward to that. They'll be staying 3 days so it'll be good to get out and about and even better to have some company. I've also booked return flights upto Liverpool for January. We've made plans to bury Cal's ashes with her parents on her birthday. I'm going to stay for a week and catch up with friends and family whilst I'm up there. Going by my trip up there for the funeral I'll probably need a break to recover afterwards. ;)
You are doing well Fred ,it must be hard . Great to see that you are being sorted as of course we all need money .So you wont be on the wagon at the end of the month !

Found the Probate Office to be pretty good when clearing up my Mum’s estate. Worst was the Land Registry who were unable to transfer house ownership to me and my brothers as the house wasn’t registered there . Had to prove Mum owned it, my Dad having died in 1984, had to proved he’d owned it, then prove we were their children. We did all that and then I couldn’t prove my identity as I don‘t have a passport or driving licence. Fortunately my name was on the Water Bill and that was acceptable. Took over two years.
