Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning. Doing overtime this morning until 12. Gym at 1 then packing for trip. I haven't checked us on the flight in yet so I'll do that too.

Foolishly I washed my trainers yesterday and they have completely fallen apart. The soles fell off! Being tne toned athlete that I am I only own one pair so I'm borrowing my daughter's for the gym session. Our flight is at 6am tomorrow from Manchester so will be leaving here at about 1 to get there for the required check in time.
Have a good day all x

Have a wonderful trip! I'm looking forward to seeing your pics.

Only very briefly when we were on the cruise lat year. Our hotel is quite close to the Vatican. Any hints and tips gratefully received!
If you have 3 full days there you can do quite a lot Anj. I've checked the weather and it's looking quite nice although cold of a night. But that'll be good for walking and sightseeing during the day. The heat and the crowds are the worst things about Rome but at this time of year you should avoid both, especially midweek.

For a good Catholic girl like yourself you should give the Vatican a full day. Getting into the Basilica is easy and also free. But I've never been to the Sistine or the gardens because the queues have always been horrendous. Not sure what they'll be like around now but I believe you can save time by booking tickets on line before you go.

Would also strongly recommend a visit to Ancient Rome to see the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Again it's best if you allocate a full day for this. Both are magical if you like your history but are deffo still worth a look see even if you don't. It's not really within walking distance of where you're staying. Never used the underground and I've heard mixed reports on it too. But you can get a taxi or I'd imagine one of the tour buses will take you there.

A walking tour can also take in most of the other top attractions. I'll warn you it's a good hike, but Cal and I managed it in a day and it was 90 degrees so I'm sure it's doable. Walking down the avenue away from St Peters (where you can get some great pics of the Basilica) you'll come to Castello de Angelo and then take the magnificent Ponte de Angelo across the Tiber. Follow on from there to Piazza Navona, Rome's nicest Piazza imo. If you're a fan of Dan Brown's Angels and Demons this is where he tried to drown the Cardinal in one of the fountains. This is where you'll find some of the best restaurants too, which aren't too expensive if you stick to the pasta. From there it's a short walk to the Pantheon which again is a must see. There's also a nice Piazza here with decent restaurants. It's about a half mile walk from here to the Trevi Fountain, and it's well signed. From there you can get to the Spanish Steps. We managed to get lost so I'm not sure exactly how far this is. We ended up at the top of the steps but that was by luck more than judgement. The street from the bottom of the steps is allegedly shopping heaven and houses most of the fine boutiques. Luckily Cal was so wiped out by this stage that all she wanted to do was have a beer and park her arse. This street takes you back to the river where you can find your way back to Ponte de Angelo taking in the fine architecture along the way.

Hope this helps Anj. Whatever you decide to do I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Morning all on this dismal day here in Hyvinkää.I must give myself a talking to as our plight does affect me and it is out of my control but what can I do ? This is the nearest I have ever been to giving up on them ,those saying it would be better to drop down and then get back up must not be watching the match as this lot are pitiful. We have so many playing below par it is a joke .If Frank avoids the chop I wonder is he able to motivate them .We are worse off by far than last year and he has had some better signings .I just don't know where the next points will come from .
I hope all slept better than I did and have a great day today COYB.
I haven't given up on them. Someone in the other threads pointed out that we aren't in May yet, so we have time plus the bottom seven in the table are within 3 points of each other. One win gets us almost mid table.

That being said, I watched the US commentators arguing about what the team needs to do. Tim Howard believes (as we already know) that everything with the team is a mess which the others agreed, but the only priority now should be staying up this season, and I don't think Frank has it in him to do that again. He looks done. My guess is soon Sean Dyche will replace him or maybe someone else.

@anjelikaferrett if you like Tiramisu there is a place called Pompi, near the Spanish steps, that everyone raves about. Didn;t make it there myself back in October, but it was recommended to us. I agree with Fred on Piazza Navona - very impressive. Circus Maximus was quite interesting too, although not very pretty I guess.

Morning guys, well it's hard to fathom that we are here in this situation again and this time, not sure a new manager will make a jot of difference, we cannot get the majority of our players to leave it all on the pitch so to speak.

When did this happen to football?

Player power is way ott these days, it undermines anything any manager is trying to do, they just give in/down tools. We should never ever get less than 100% but for the money they earn should be 110% really.

I don't think it's acceptable to earn such ridiculous wages if you cba when things get a bit hot under the collar.

Anyway, I guess we get another fella in to chuck under the bus this time next season. the cycle continues.

Have a good day everyone.
