Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Evening Toffees.

My Mum has FINALLY completed on her new apartment, after months. She has August left on her rental place, so zero moving stress. And it is fabulous, a large first floor pad overlooking a marina. So, was there yesterday with Mum and Sis; they, well Sis, were talking about where a coffee table etc would go. I noticed the leccy and water were turned off.

"Er, Mum, Ali, any idea how to turn them on?" Maybe it is me, but reckoned it was a tad more important than some furniture! Anyrate, got them turned on, then they disappeared to the hell that is a big furniture store in Bristol. Such a relief that Mum (87) is sorted, and loves the place. @Barnfred 55 , from where you and Cal dined that night, its the far end of the left hand side of the marina, overlooking the lock gates.

And got a phone date with my lad in NZ later. Decent few days in my ikkle world.

Yeah I can picture it. I thought she'd already moved in.

How did the Cornish wedding go,? Hope it wasn't a washout. Nothing worse for the bride.

Morning everyone,

Spent yesterday helping Mrs J in the charity shop.
She was absolutely made up with the takings of £380 whilst she dealt with stock in the back room and treated me to a vegetable chow mein on the way home - we know how to live it up , we even had chips with it!

It's amazing what some people do in the shop. Just because it's a charity shop they seem offended when I refuse to accept a reduced offer and perplexed when I ask if they request a reduced price at Boots.

Didnt see any shop lifters but who knows?

A very nice dealer came in and was interested in a silver cigarette box that fortunately I had researched for Mrs J. So I went into full Bargain Hunt expert mode " vacant cartouche, great condition, crisp hallmarks showing 1928 Birmingham, nice engine turning and deco style" . Seemed to work as I got £95 for it.

The shop is opposite onstreet parking including a number of disabled slots. On 2 occasions I noticed parking inspectors give tickets to massive 4x4s presumably parked without blue cards. Unbelievable.

We regularly get visits from footballers wives who donate some really nice ( well expensive , some is tasteless).

Anyway I was knackered when I got home , surprising how a perma smile and being nice to everyone takes it out of you.

So, @Barnfred 55 not long to go now before your epic journey. Should be absolutely fantastic.

Housework day today and then cutting some grass this afternoon. No rest for the wicked.

Have a lovely day everyone.
Whereabouts is the shop please Jazzy ?

She had to rent in one of the big places at the far end, which was fine, but she is of that generation that hates renting. (cant blame her tbh). But it is perfect.

Wedding is September. I am still not robust enough to feel trapped 200 miles from home/safety if I feel wonky. So would not want to be the mad Uncle who showed himself up. Brother/Nephew understand, which is sound. I am not some loon, but understand I had/have some mental health issues following Nik. The biggest issue is telling your loved ones about it. But cos they love you, they eventually get it.

Was at a BBQ the other weekend. Mum took one look at me an hour so into it, (a lovely afternoon btw), and just said, "You want to leave dont you?"
