Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning, just back from an easy run/walk trying to get back again after Covid/chest infection, a nice morning and a chance to get some “ sunlight in my eyes “ 🌞. Later I’ll be back doing battle with KLM in my “ no , these are honest, legitimate expenses you said you’d pay” saga.
just sue them. I'm sure there is a Scottish equivilent of the Small Claims Court. They will just pay up.

Long post Alert!

Well a bit of a saga but I completed my mission to obtain money back from my holidays, I ll give you the short version.! Recap, after missing our Edinburgh to Rotterdam flight because of a RTA I had to book flights Inverness to Amsterdam instead, then got caught in the Air Traffic issues on the way back .

From the Air Traffic delay KLM kept stalling on my initial claim for hotel , meals etc expenses that we had to pay ,( this was agreed by them and a legal requirement ) and numerous emails were sent. Then they said here you go here’s £300 out of the £500 you spent , now get lost.

Meanwhile my claim on my travel insurance with Tesco/ Axa for missing the original flight was similarly going nowhere “ Not our problem , contact the airline and send us details of compensation they’ve paid ”. “ Yes it is your problem, airlines don’t cover missed flights when it’s not their fault , here’s a copy of my Policy and what you agreed to cover” . No response . Then three days later I get a call from Axa out of the blue “ Very sorry, we shouldn’t have asked you to contact the airline , our fault , we’re paying your claim “ I was astounded , very grateful and gave Axa a great write up!

Back with KLM it was “ Thank you , but where’s the rest of the money or an explanation?. No reply. “ “ Where’s the rest of the money or I’ll pursue 5 options “ Still no reply. Monday this week I pursued option 1 . “ Dear KLM CEO, Managing Director, President, here’s a polite note, please get one of your staff to investigate why I’m £200 short with an honest and valid claim “

Nothing initially , then on Wednesday “ Thank you for contacting our Executive team , sorry for your hassle , we’ve looked into it , it’s all correct , your not getting any more money, but here’s a Voucher to fly with KLM in future” . “ Dear KLM, politely get lost , here’s all the receipts again , look through 5 weeks of emails and the receipts and tell me which aren’t valid.” By now it was not so much the money but the fact I’d been completely honest with what I’d claimed , they were doubting me and pisding me about.

Today I had a phone call from a nice KLM lady , we agreed to remove a receipt for a meal at Heathrow ( 🤷‍♂️) and they’re paying the remaining amount. Quite a saga over the weeks, but polite persistence paid off!

Just enjoying the last rays and a refreshing Kopparberg. Looking forward to my barbie later.

Good cider, but when I worked at a bar it was our go-to, we had the massive umbrellas out for the summer and all, big banners.

A very nice young Swedish couple comes in and genuinely had never seen that and asked wtf it is and why does it say Sweden on so many things in a Scottish bar lol
