Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I have always served Quorn nuggets to our grandkids under the guise of chicken nuggets, they never guessed it wasn’t actually chicken. I agree with @jazzy about the bacon though and it repeats on you something terrible. lol
The missus had a severe reaction to quorn, it’s not allowed in the house now. Don’t understand as mushrooms are no problem. Probs a different fungi

I just Googled it and it can cause quite severe allergic reactions and it’s not derived from mushrooms although the label says it is🤷‍♀️. I can’t stand the vegan variety, it’s awful.

That bring back memories of about 20 years ago when I was a single parent of three teenagers. One day my 16 year old daughter uttered those words every dad dreads to hear : “ Dad I’ve got something to tell you ………..I ve become a vegetarian! “. Mealtimes changed drastically and there was a few times when I had to tell her younger brother “ Yes of course those are real sausages / nuggets etc” . When she went off to university and cooking for herself she rediscovered her love of bacon butties , and never looked back. 🙂

Similar but different- son aged about 6 told me he didn’t want to eat meat anymore- “yes of course this is vegetarian ham” - am I a bad mum? He soon reverted but I still feel a bit guilty and have confessed

Apparently it’s the bacon butties that are most likely to get to you, they don’t bother me but I do still hanker after the Melton Mowbray pork pie my brother has on the Christmas tea table, not the meat bit just the jelly and the pastry!

A bit late again as we have been preparing for our little Xmas .Ham and xmas tree were needed .I hope all had a good night and have a great day today . It is hotting up on this points deduction and judging by the comments/reports it seems unlikely they will not give some points back . I see they have limtied the questions they can throw at Sean today so it will be worth a look .COYB

TBH BL, I'd have thought you'd have breathed a sigh of relief when your daughter came out as a veggie

Just giving you the heads up Blue, there'll be no G&T pics this Friday. I have the neighbours around for a curry tonight. I'm cooking my version of Anj's Zanzibar curry, which will only be the second time I have cooked it and the first time I've tried it out on anybody else. So fingers crossed. I prepared the spice mix yesterday which was the easy part, and in addition to the chicken curry I'm also preparing mushroom and rice side dishes, so I have a busy afternoon ahead.

I'll hopefully be able to catch up on the thread tomorrow and, if I don't have too much of a hangover, maybe have a G&T Saturday instead. Have a great Friday everybody.;)
