Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Just out of interest and reading about differences in health services I saw a report this week that said that each GP in England is now responsible for 158 more patients than they were 5 years ago. I’m no population expert but that seems a lot. Also I guess that they won’t all be ill/old or in some type of need. I just found it interesting
Are they still paid per patient whether they need care or not ? I had 27 years without a call to the doctor but he was apparently paid ne'ertheless .

Morning all . I’m making a tentative return to GOT after a four week absence. Mrs bl developed severe pain in her side four weeks ago and we ended up going via NHS 111, on call GP , hospital A&E , admittance to A&E Ward on a trolley in the corridor at 1.30 am in the morning. She had a severe kidney infection/ sepsis which they struggled to get on top of . Really she saw the best of the NHS, good doctors and nurses, and the worst , no beds, lost notes setting her treatment back, scans that failed to happen, repeated inability to get bloods/ cannula into her arms leaving her literally black and blue , undertrained/ overworked staff . Appalling really how underfunded the NHS is , this is not a thread for political comment so I’ll confine it to “ Paul Mullin’s boots” . Thankfully they eventually reduced her infection markers sufficiently via IV antibiotics to allow her home , and she’s making slow progress now.

Life was really hectic for a few weeks, twice a day hospital visits, keeping family and friends updated etc , so I had no time to post on GOT. And to be honest I didn’t miss it and wondered if I’d return again. When I did pop in it struck me how negative most of the threads are. I sponsor the Chermiti thread , a 19 year old moving to another country, trying to progress but all I saw when I looked in was the same people repeating the same negative comments. I didn’t need that level of negativity in my life so avoided GOT, but kept up with what was going on Everton wise. My own BP has been sky high the past few weeks, lack of sleep etc hasn’t helped , so it may be a tentative return .

Sorry to hear about your wife and hope she makes a full recovery. I have just had two bouts of debilitating pain in the rhs lower back kidney area, very sharp pain making any kind of movement painful. Laying on my back or side and it goes. Saw the doctor yesterday who prodded and poked around and she said she doesn’t think it’s the kidney but let’s let it settle down and see how it is over the next two weeks. I can well imagine the pain your wife went through.

On the football negativity front, yes it’s all doom and gloom, best just to look in to the New Ground thread. I used to spend time debating in the CA forum but the intolerance of differing opinions and echo chamber effect just adds to the football gloom………

Sepsis is so dangerous and I'm sure you're relieved Mrs BL is on the mend.

Take your time mate. I'm sure Everton are not the best thing for your blood pressure right now.

CA forum must be boring without you Pete. Everyone will be agreeing with each other😀

Thanks for all your good wishes folks , they’re much appreciated.

@peteblue , hopefully your pain has subsided, but don’t leave it too long. Mrs bl’s pain had been coming and going for a while, treated , dampened down but not fixed and consequently travelled to her kidney. If I hadn’t insisted on phoning 111, taking the emergency doctor appointment she’d have tried to soldier on. Good luck with getting it sorted and fixed.
