Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Must do is a great master.

No doubt that Finland is as modern as Ireland but it must be a culture shock to someone used to living in built up urban environments. I say this as someone whose own home would be considered by many as remote but not to those of us born and raised there!
I worked in the middle of the countryside in the UK building houses miles from a shop we build 570 houses just outside Warrington on an old airport and the only way to get food was to bring it with you ,the same outside Blackpool .So it isn't a situation I felt at all funny about . A builder works all over the place after all .
I watch series on TV about your homeland and for sure there are places that are more remote than here .
But yes it is not for everyone including some Finns,we just love the peace and quiet and that we can lay outside with no one to consider ,nakedness is not a strange thing here and having that freedom is one of the best things for me for moving here ,the same in the sauna it is normal to be naked with the same sex or partner/ wife even with your own children until they get too old .
The first time I visited a public baths with my wife I was shocked that the person mopping the floors around the men was a young girl about 16 years old ,who by the way didn't bat an eyelid .That was a culture shock as was the fact that it is quite normal for a woman taking the lead role in getting a date .

For me the happy medium is to have a peaceful house with privacy around you but at the same time have amenities within walking distance of you. I see some beautiful houses out in the open countryside but know if it was mine I would soon grow tired of having to get into the car to get a pint of milk.

Re the body confidence, I think the British/Irish are particularly prudish when it comes to nudity. Not a bad thing though on some occasions!

The mirror tells me being a prude is definitely the right thing to do

You learn to live with the distance although sometimes we run out of something and have a trip to get it ,lucky we have lots of storage so whenever we open something I put it on the list and get one next time out so we have a hoard of most things that seems to work for us ,it would be nice to have a pub , I have never seen one out in the countryside here they are all in towns and cities . Drink driving is an absolute no no .
It is surprising how you get used to nudity in the home ,I would never dream of going to a nudist beach but I am comfortable now with sauna culture ,when my son ( who had never seen me naked ) came we wore trunks but we visited the family summer home and he went with the boys but not me and went naked ,upon getting back home he said he would never go the sauna again with trunks so we went naked the last time . If you think playing sports all the lads get into the showers after a game ,so what is the difference ?

For our Buckie fan

Buckie Thistle boss resigns after TEN years in job just weeks after Highland league glory and SPFL pyramid row
Yeah Mrs bl spotted it on Facebook first. Graeme “ Spider” Stewart won the league twice with Buckie as a player, became manager, and also won it twice. He’s got a demanding job in the oil industry and two young children, his decision came as a shock but everybody wishes him well . He’s some character, usually gets 3 or4 red cards a season. I got my three “ mid season “ wishes, including Buckie won the League, Everton avoided relegation. Hoping for a bit more from the blues next season 🙂

I remember orienteering in Sweden in 1980 and met up with orienteering friends . The wife was Swedish and she explained that casual nudity is accepted at events, getting changed, swimming in a lake mainly , as it was regarded as “a private family type occasion “ although there were thousands of people.

We once went to a party celebrating the 1st May in the middle of the kitchen was a hot tub with two old men siting naked ,they were Sedish speaking Finns ,it took me by surprise .
