Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I hope you see your brother's point ,he might need the money . Some are good with the old lucre and others not so , at the end of the day it is his by right .No offence meant and I am sure none taken
None taken Blue but unfortunately it is sheer greed on his part. They are far from skint. I would be sympathetic if he was strapped for cash. He's been barking orders at me and my other brother from 10 000 miles away for many years including asking us to get Dad to delay Mum's funeral because he was going to Bali on holiday. We didn't but the dates were OK as it was.
After Dad died I found a load of cheque book stubs in Dad's bedside drawer. I didn't look at them because to me, even as executor, it was none of my business. That was money Dad had spent while he was alive - even if he had spent it on cocaine and hookers it was still none of my business!🤣🤣
Brother came back from Australia, went through every stub and quizzed me on why did Dad give money to The British Legion? Because it was a charity he liked to support. Not rocket science. It's all about the money.

No Blue , I reckon Anj who is clearly upset or disappointed by his behavior has read him correctly. I totally trust her judgement.

Sadly in my professional position I saw this loads of times . The thought of money just makes some people very greedy.

At Christmas I found out that I was one of 3 , along with my cousin and another who were due to inherit a cousin in laws estate ( he survived our other cousin but is in very bad health).

I was genuinely surprised as I was never that close to my cousin who passed. However all I heard from other cousin at Christmas who also gets a third was how unfair life was , how much he needed the money and how little I needed it. A bit pathetic really and made me all the more determined to claim it when CiL eventually passes on.
We are all tainted by our own experiences ,therefore seeing each situation in a different light .

Sorry , thanks for being so understanding I think I do recall a post you made at the time .I concur it is not at all nice when this happens .

Re the inheritance debate, some years ago Mr G.’s brother rang to say that he had been informed the family were the beneficiaries of a long lost uncle, their Grandad’s brother. Pound signs appeared in my sis-in-laws eyes ,she had done some research and found out the uncle was a farmer of quite a considerable amount of acres. “It’s the stuff of dreams inheriting from long lost relative and a landowner to boot, land is quite expensive in that part of the country, wonder how much we’ll get!” she gloated. How I would love to have been a fly on the wall when she opened the letter which revealed the extent of the legacy £6.34p! The uncle had only been a tenant not the landowner, furthermore Grandad was one of 7 children, Grandad’s share was divided between his 5 children, Mr G’s Mum had passed away so her share was divided between her 6 children. The biggest beneficiary was the genealogist engaged to track everyone down who pocketed over £2,500.

Good morning all. It's a breezy 10 degrees outside but no rain forecast until 3pm. I'm off to Tesco and/or Lidl soon - rock and roll lifestyle and might be going to the gym. We've a PT session booked in at 1 but unfortunately the daughter had an acciden in work the day before yesterday. She spilled boiling water down her leg and foot ( what is it with my children and feet!!). She has a nasty scald on her leg but she also wears and ankle bracelet, the skin has blistered in that area. I assume the water hit the metal which then became hot and burned the skin. She's on her feet most of the day in work so I'm not sure if she fancies the gym as well before her shift starts. If she doesn't, I might go anyway but cancel the PT session or I might do some gardening as that seems to be the theme of the day1.

The sale of my Dad's house is still going through, the buyers are having the survey done this week , the contracts are ready but not exchanged. I'm hoping it won't be too long - brother in Australia is getting twitchy about wanting his money. Sad but not unexpected.

Have a lovely day folks - hope your headacjes are not too bad @Terrarian and how's Mum today @jazzy
Oh no, I hope your daughter is ok. And your brother …. Oh dear - families eh? Sometimes you just have to bite your tongue x

Morning all,, temperature at the moment is a mighty 8 degrees here but at least it’s sunny. Got a call yesterday from our friend (he’s a painter and decorator) , desperate for help as the recent weather means his current job is way behind so Mr. G is off painting for the next couple of days after the morning school run. Grandma is feeling much better after her bladder op. so able to do the afternoon run, which is great, not only does it ease things for us but mostly it means that she is on the road to recovery, which in February looked a very, very long way off.
My friend is away too so I have a day to please myself which will probably involve gardening at my brothers who has hinted he could do with some help.
Have a good day, all and a good holiday @Val P 💙
Thank you - dare I say it’s been high 20s here today 🫢.

Some very dodgy dealings too. Under a freedom of information request my brother hit a brick wall when asking who paid the utility bills business rates etc, while Virgin had this contract.
Virgin bought by HCRG Care group are now providing the services but can still call themselves NHS so any of their shortcomings are blamed on NHS. (Takes deep breath, bites tongue and reaches for another ouzo …. 😂)

Afternoon guys hope you're all good. Just treat myself to some summer clothes, I needed shorts and got an Everton trackie top for £16 so I thought bugger it. Let's hope we even have a summer as it's all over the place at the minute.

I've just seen a clip on twitter of someone being killed by a train trying to take a selfie and people just carried on recording with their phones instead of seeing if she was still alive. She died instantly all for a photo, it looks as though her son was with her, unless it was a random kid stood near her.

Horrendous people's reactions were though, social media can be a horrible thing at times.
