Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

@Terrarian it is a shame you were not able to interact with Messy on this thread as he was a great inspiration, but maybe the timing is just right for other reasons.

Sorry to hear about your physical health struggles, getting old is a bitch. Whoever said it was the golden years must have been on crack. And while there is no much many of us can do here to improve your physical self, if your mental health is in need of some positivism and a good laugh then this is the place to visit. This is the legacy Karl left for all of us at GOT. Welcome! X
Yeah he sounds like he was a top bloke. I have a condition that is basically untreatable without huge huge risks of becoming a quadriplegic so I have to live with it the best I can, it gets hard and I live on my own so don't get to ask people to do things for me.

It also stops my mental health from fully recovering and so i feel like I go around in circles, it doesn't matter how good I feel upstairs, chronic pain will always win that battle. I feel like someone has blasted my calf with a shotgun today lol got to laugh haven't ya ffs lol

Oh that's such a shame. Apologies if this is Granny sucking eggs but have you ever been referred to a pain clinic? I know people who have and they say it helps them to manage the pain.

Oh yeah I've been through the lot, I goto a pain clinic but they're not great to be honest and always miss my appointments by months so I still live half the time without my treatment. The one thing I don't get help with though is mental health side of it due to living with chronic pain.

I forget what not hurting feels like. It gets you down waking up wondering if you can walk far that day or are my headaches going to be horr3endous today, it sucks and in my opinion 20 years too early in life to be having these problems lol

Morning messketeers!

My last day in work so the chrimbo jumper is getting worn - nothing says merry Christmas more than me looking even more of a Berk than usual!

Few last minute bits to get for my two little "angels", who have somehow now added a couple of presents that they desperately need, when we visited Santa in his grotto (but haven't mentioned all smegging year!) and I think we're all good!

Really looking forward to the break, it's been a bit of a year.

Have a boss day everyone.

Good morning all on this beautiful cold and clear day -13° here ,thermals on and of to the wife's parents grave to put some pine branches as a bed and a long life candle .
Another couple of facts about dear old Finland ,if you don't keep paying for the plot/up keep then they take the stone away and bury someone else .It seems a bit harsh for me but space around the cities is scarce on all the cemeteries are spotless because of this .It is also quite beautiful to see them at night with thousands of candles burning at Christmas .
They also have the best records of births deaths and marriages so there is no need to start searching for your ancestors in an old overgrown churchyard.
Stay safe and have a fantastic day today .
@Sassy Colombian Feliz compleaños a tu hija dela mañana

Thanks for the birthday wishes for Sofia, she will be 11 on Thursday and time has passed too quickly. She was just a baby not too long ago and now she is quickly arriving to teenagers years or as she would said, she is now a tween ? I was actually feeling a bit stressed about her upcoming birthday today as we had to get tested for Covid before our trip back to the US. We have taken all the precautions while traveling through CR and throughout the country is mandatory to wear mask, wash hands or sanitize before coming inside an establishment and even temperature taking is conducted to go into a supermarket. Among the many things that have impressed me about CR, and there have been many, is how seriously they are about taking preventive measures to stop the spread of Covid. So all those measures plus the fact that we mostly spent our time outdoors, even when we dined at restaurants, should have been good enough to keep us safe. Nonetheless I began anxious this morning at the thought of posting positive for Covid and for our daughter to have missed her birthday celebration with the family. I was feeling guilty (@Brett Angell Delight there is that parent guilt) that our trip was meant for her to miss her birthday celebration. Thankfully our test came back negative this evening and we are safe to travel back to the US. Once back home we will take a home test again on Thursday to ensure we are okay to be around grandparents. Life is so risky now days but the best we can do is to cope with this new way of living safely, because it seems as if Covid is here with us for the long haul :( So to all of you reading this post, I hope you can stay safe friends! Good health to everyone for the upcoming year! Xx
Really pleased that you had a wonderful holiday.
