Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Evening all, hope everyone is well and that @Terrarian is feeling better soon. Sounds like you had a fab day celebrating Mr F’s birthday @anjelikaferrett. I think Scouseness (made up word probably) does rub off on you when you’re married to one @jazzy, my hub calls me an honorary Scouser which is def a compliment.
Been grounded all day as car been in for service and cam belt. The dreaded call came in at 4.00 - he has to stay in overnight as there’s a leak on the Haldex System (whatever that is). Looking like a huge bill which I can well do without but hey what can you do.
Mr P has kindly agreed to drive me to work tomorrow afternoon in Lytham and wait for me so I will be in his debt yet again.
Also got dreaded annual review tomorrow morning so this week is not going too well. Things can only get better - surely 🤞

When can we expect to hear the results of the US election? Is it Wednesday morning? Bit random I know but I am a bit behind with it all.
With different time zones it's hard to say. Polls on the East coast close at midnight our time on Tuesday with California closing at 4am . Exit polls are allowed as soon as the polls close in each state.

So we could know by 5 am on Wednesday but given how close the voting is likely to be it could be 4 days if there are multiple recounts and 3 months if there are Supreme Court challenges.

Hold onto your hats .

Sorry to hear this T. Have you spoken with your GP recently regarding the medication ?…………
Morning all, sorry for late reply pete., I've pretty much exhausted all options I'm afraid, unless I have the money to go private to have an op, i am stuck in this state. I'd like to say you get used to it but you really don't, it's so disheartening thinking ahead, continuously headaches of which I have no clue hour to hour how bad they are going to be, I have to suck it up.

Morning all, school run then son will be dropping Minnie off on his way to work. She is still missing her friends Woody and Poppy and can’t be left alone even for a few minutes. Son’s MIL who has taken on the role of doggie-day care has the results of a biopsy today so is unavailable, this also means that the task of the afternoon school run falls to us as well. Depending on the outcome for Grandma it may mean that we will be doing this for the foreseeable future.
Hope things go well today @Val P, will keep everything crossed for you and also hope the bill for your car isn’t as bad as you fear. I have to say I know nothing about cars other than the colour.
@Terrarian Hope that today is a better day for you T and Daisy is behaving herself and giving you cuddles.
Have a good day, all.💙

Good morning everyone.

Today is a momentus day for the USA and the rest of the world and I am petrified for the outcome that I fear.

But as most things in life I have absolutely no control over what happens and so I try to tell me self not to stress about it and try to just watch as a bystander to history.

We have had similar moments in my lifetime even if I was of such an age that I didn't appreciate them.

So, all we can do is go about our normal day to day business that means so much to each of us and so very little in the big order of things.

Yes G , I feel very philosophical this morning, I'm sure I will get out of it.

Have a lovely day everyone.

I’m awful sorry for you, it’s hard to know what to say but I think you are being let down by the medical profession. If the GP is doing sod all, try turning up at your local hospital and refuse to leave until properly seen to, or try social services. I’m sorry if I’m saying stuff you’ve already done, but don’t give up and merely accept the current response. Kick up a stink until someone actually does something…..

Really!!?? It’s a staple of every Irish Christmas dinner 😀

I didn’t even know the Cure had a new album. I never really got them first time around in all honesty.
You probably got them in their pop era during the 90s mate. Their early stuff is very melancholy and a bit gothy. The new album is a return to that early vibe and for me rivals my favourite album by them, Disintegration. It's full of gorgeous layers of instrumentals and incredible dark lyrics, none more so than on opener "Alone". This is like a punch to the stomach every time I hear it.

I hope the gods smiled on you when you got the bill @Val P . It is an often overlooked oil that needs to be changed .

Vocals aside, if I listened to that and had to guess I would have said Moby. The lyrics are as dark as you said but I do like a lot of bands like that, depends on the mood of the listener really.

And you are right, at Secondary school in the 90s, the cool kids liked The Cure but it just wasn’t what I was exposed to at home and it subsequently never grabbed me.

Thank you - I think the gods were smirking rather than smiling, as the leak stopped on the Haldex system when they replaced the filter thank goodness (I know I sound like I know what I am talking about) but the bill was still a four figure sum 😢 - ouch. Hopefully happy motoring for a while now.

Thank you, as I expected my blood results were much higher so the practice nurse said I’ve got 6 months to turn it around otherwise I have to start on meds. Having controlled my T2 for 14 years on diet and exercise that was the kick up the 🍑 I needed and I will do as instructed.
I hope things have gone well for your sons mum in law and her biopsy results are favourable x
