Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

OMG sounds like the trip of a lifetime. Have an absolutely fantastic time . Jealous? Me? No not even one bit .....now what was it that Mutley in Dick Dastardly used to say ...."suckumfrasumrusum"....
That post deserves a Mutley medal.😀

Well it's all systems go now. Just been down to neighbours to book my flight. I'll be slumming it in economy whilst they fly first class but that's fine. Never flown with Virgin before. Just need to book return rail journey to Heathrow. Leave on 3rd Jan and back on 28th. So not even a 3 week wait.

Actually staying in 2 villas, both of them fantastic with pools and gorgeous terraces with sea views. The second one is 4 bedroom and two of their nieces have said they'll come down from Durban for a few days (yes the stripper 😀) Really looking forward to it.

Just heard from my friends wife, this was the lad who only recently was diagnosed with bile duct cancer, that he passed away peacefully last night. He was only 69 and was desperate to hang on until he was 70 in February but he went downhill very quickly, not unexpected to be honest…R.I.P. Richard………
What a terrible time for all , words fail me Pete. How is Kay today? hopefully coming home soon -no place like home.

One of my neighbours nieces, Caroline. You may recall a couple of years ago their sister in law was staying with them whilst she was having cancer treatment. Well she casually slipped into the conversation one evening that one of her daughters, who I've met a number of times, used to be a stripper. I think it was more Burlesque type of thing at a Paris nightclub, but even so I don't think she kept all of her clothes on all of the time.😀 She now works on Private yachts (not as a stripper).

Oh Pete. That's so sad.

I am so jealous. South Africa is a place I would love to visit. I've always wanted to go on a safari and see some great white sharks. You will have an amazing time.

Hello folks. 2024 continues to be the year that keeps on giving. I cannot wait for it to be over. Charlotte's last scan revealed that the baby had fluid round one of his kidneys. She had another scan yesterday that revealed the kidney has not developed properly and is effectively useless. So he only has one kidney - which is working fine, thank goodness. Apparently 1 in 4300 pregnancies experience this situation. He should be fine but it is a worry and she has to have scans every two weeks from now on.

I hope all goes well ,it is so much better now that they can pick these things up early and have everyone aware of it all . 1 in 4300 isn't a rarity is it so they are sure to know what to do if anything .Good luck to all .

Well we only need one kidney so lets cling to that. But isn't it amazing that they can deduce that from the scans. All I see is a splodge on the screen when I look at those things.

Oh bless him, you feel so helpless when these things happen.

Neighbours just left. I do enjoy my curry nights as it's not worth cooking from scratch just for myself. Plenty left for tea tomorrow too.

Anj's Zanzibar curry was amazing. And my version does have a teaspoon of garam masala too.😀

They told me they've booked a coastal villa in Cape Town for 3 weeks in January and asked if I'd like to join them. Just need to pay for my travel and contribute towards living costs . Are you kidding me? It looks fantastic complete with amazing swimming pool. Itinerary includes cricket and rugby tests, a Robbie Williams concert, and a 2 day safari trip. Sign me up.😀
Wow, certainly an offer you can’t refuse

Morning all, not a bad start to the day, fairly mild temperature forecast of 13 degrees which is good as were are off with daughter, SIL and grandkids nos 3&4 to visit Father Christmas on an alpaca farm this morning. Hope Jess doesn’t come up wth any last minute surprises like she did a couple of years ago. Her Mum had arranged for a visit from one of Santa’s elves on Christmas Eve. On being asked what she was hoping to get Jess replied an LOL doll, (highly overpriced cheap plastic tat ) which came as complete surprise to everyone and resulted in a last minute dash to the shops before they shut.
@anjelikaferrett , yes the tree is up despite a disaster taking decorations out of the box. I dropped a snow globe (didn’t they used to be called snowstorms?) smashing two more and ending up with a box full of water and broken glass. Fortunately all the tree baubles escaped unscathed, I would have been mortified to lose any, some of them go back to our first tree together.
Have a good day, all.💙
Opening Christmas decorations is like opening a box of memories. Like @Armaghtoffee I have a little plastic Santa on a sleigh with a reindeer that predates me, and my sister who is 7 years older than me can’t ever remember it not being on a tree - so that makes it at least 70 years old. It’s now on my granddaughter’s tree.
