Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Just heard from my friends wife, this was the lad who only recently was diagnosed with bile duct cancer, that he passed away peacefully last night. He was only 69 and was desperate to hang on until he was 70 in February but he went downhill very quickly, not unexpected to be honest…R.I.P. Richard………
So sorry to hear you have had even more bad news, I don’t really have the words…

Hello folks. 2024 continues to be the year that keeps on giving. I cannot wait for it to be over. Charlotte's last scan revealed that the baby had fluid round one of his kidneys. She had another scan yesterday that revealed the kidney has not developed properly and is effectively useless. So he only has one kidney - which is working fine, thank goodness. Apparently 1 in 4300 pregnancies experience this situation. He should be fine but it is a worry and she has to have scans every two weeks from now on.
Oh Anj I do feel for you all. One good thing it has been picked up early and will be monitored closely. Sending love and best wishes.💙

Had a good time at the alpacas, Jess didn’t surprise us with any last minute requests to Santa and had a good chat to him, Hannah obviously too old to believe now (although I still think he’s real) but went along with it for her sister. If he’s not the real one, he’s a very good substitute, he was brilliant and said he would do his best but he never made promises in case he couldn’t keep them. Here’s a couple of pics, one of the big skies here in the flatlands.

What a terrible time for all , words fail me Pete. How is Kay today? hopefully coming home soon -no place like home.

Kay was awake and sitting up, she seems a lot better but of course with her Alzheimer’s she can’t tell you how she is. I took my daughter with me as well who was a little distressed about her tbh, but she only gets to see her for a few minutes each day when my son takes Kay to see her and the kids. My daughter works incredibly hard and is raising two children so I really didn’t want to put addition pressure on her, and my son and I have deliberately not gotten her involved with Kays day to day care so it came as a bit of a shock. Thanks for asking Blue…..

Dreadfully sorry to hear this Anj, but more people than you may realise only have one kidney and are incredibly healthy. It’s also best that medics are aware of it so early. Until the Alzheimer’s, my wife lived with a hole in the heart from birth and then had a kidney removed and tbh she was as strong as an ox from a health perspective. I’m sure the little guy will be fine. In terms of this year I too cannot wait to see the back of it………….

A good buddy of mine was born with just one kidney. He is reffing games to this day at 45, fit as a flea. The body always finds a way.

Have I ever mentioned that if Kay has learned another language she might be able to talk in that as it is stored in an unaffected part of the brain . I do hope she is home soon and I fully understand the way you are with your daughter .My thoughts are with you and Kay this morning Pete . 💙

Good morning all on this snowy day here .I hope all slept well and have a fantastic day today . Off to get the engine warmer today and normal groceries other than that the normal grind .
Did I ever show the mortar I made for a neighbour hewn fron a rock and weighing in at at least 10 kilos so she could go at it with gusto ? Well at the fete I asked her in hindsight as I thought I should have made one side easy to rolling order to ease the emptying cycle ,would she like me to do it ? She replied no but I would like a new pestle ! I have some rocks I have picked up and now I want to use my lathe -which is for wood-and turn it perfectly round .My intention is to use it on low speed and use an angle grinder set above it resting on the part where the chisel would be .
This will be done outside and nowhere near a car in case it flies out ! I find this sort of challenge invigorating and have hardly slept going over and over the project in my mind. Have a great day all COYB
