Evening all. Well it’s nice to know that you can still get first class service from the NHS. As I mentioned Mr P had his out-patient appointment on Friday where a lovely young doc did a very thorough assessment and informed him that he would recommend a total knee replacement, which they would be able to do as a day case hopefully due to his age and general good health. Said there was a 3 - 6 month wait, and when we explained about our holiday he said we could wait til summer if they couldn’t fit him in in time before it (given flying restrictions etc).
To our surprise he got a text message on Friday night offering a pre op assessment on 6th Feb, a letter following that up came on Monday. The OT rang him to go through some stuff about what to do pre and post op yesterday. Then he got sent a link to an app which gives you exercises and advice and you can link it to your phone so they can see how much exercise you are doing, takes baseline measurements of his knee and other health issues so they can repeat it after to get clinical outcome measures.
We did say he would be up for stepping in at short notice if any cancellations happened so we are keeping our fingers crossed
. And to top it all his consultant is Greek and a big football fan (sadly Villa but if he gets Mr P better we can forgive that, but I will have to have a moan about their keeper wasting time).
