Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning from Leeds Bradford Airport. Our flight to Dublin has been delayed for an hour due to a technical issue. I'm trying not to think Cape Verde all over again!🤣
Welcome home @Barnfred 55 I've loved your pics. Great news about hubby @Val P . Fingers crossed a cancellation comes up. I've had people knock on our door about the roof too @Gwladysover. Proper con men.
Safe journey, have a great time.

Checked the roof and it’s fine. It’s guaranteed for ten years so if it was damaged the roofer would come back to do any repairs. Sadly the “Your roof is damaged” con is all too common, some pensioners have lost their life savings.
I didn't doubt the wisdom of your comment but just wanted to say it ws possible with the bad weather .I doubt the builder would come back for pointing sadly .I do feel sad that so many are prepared to con other people .We have people coming around here offering us a new roof when there is nothing wrong with ours ,I wouldn't say they were conning us but it makes me wonder .

Hopefully lightning doesn't strike twice ,you can always have a guinness in the bar just to get the feel .

I quite content if someone vets the incomings as Thelwell hadn’t exactly covered himself in glory.
Once again we don't see things the same as I think with the constraints Thelwell has done OK .If you think back to the open wallet days there were many more flops with almost no limit on options .If you think O'Brien ,Mangala and N'diaye off the top of my head are all in the first team other than injuries .

Evening all. Well it’s nice to know that you can still get first class service from the NHS. As I mentioned Mr P had his out-patient appointment on Friday where a lovely young doc did a very thorough assessment and informed him that he would recommend a total knee replacement, which they would be able to do as a day case hopefully due to his age and general good health. Said there was a 3 - 6 month wait, and when we explained about our holiday he said we could wait til summer if they couldn’t fit him in in time before it (given flying restrictions etc).
To our surprise he got a text message on Friday night offering a pre op assessment on 6th Feb, a letter following that up came on Monday. The OT rang him to go through some stuff about what to do pre and post op yesterday. Then he got sent a link to an app which gives you exercises and advice and you can link it to your phone so they can see how much exercise you are doing, takes baseline measurements of his knee and other health issues so they can repeat it after to get clinical outcome measures.
We did say he would be up for stepping in at short notice if any cancellations happened so we are keeping our fingers crossed 🤞 . And to top it all his consultant is Greek and a big football fan (sadly Villa but if he gets Mr P better we can forgive that, but I will have to have a moan about their keeper wasting time).
Viva the NHS 💙
That’s excellent progress Val. I’m in an Over 70’s Facebook Running Group, mainly Americans, and they’re quite often posting about “ TKR” s , quite common in the US apparently and lots of good comments about the improvements to their life afterwards . It does sound like Mr P has got some great people looking after him I’m sure it will go well for him. While I’m also sure he has absolutely no intent , he could try a version of “ Give it to me straight Doc, will I be able to run a marathon after my TKR ?” Apparently the answer is yes, although the general advice will be to avoid such impact exercises. Good luck to Mr P .

Agreed on those players but reasonable to point out those who haven’t worked out (Danjuma/Patterson/Harrison) or indeed those who never will (Beto)

Stay up this year and these days are behind us anyway. While never being a City style rebuilding, slow steady progression on and off the pitch will be a tonic for us all.

As an aside on O’Brien, his treatment under Dyche becomes more baffling by the day.

I have to agree some have been terrible but once again I would just like to see what he can do with the constraints removed ,at least slackened .I don't think I would give up on Pato yet but fear he might have given up on us .Beto well what can you say as he just doesn't seem fast enough although we did take Denis Straq to our hearts and Danjuma was a loan .

Thank you, yes I’m impressed so far. I would be even more impressed if he got to running a marathon 😂

Patterson I thought would be excellent but he isn’t being ignored by all these managers without good reason.

Re Beto, I actually think he is very quick but therein lies his only skill- outpacing a defender for a ball played on the ground. We don’t have the players to play that ball and Premier League defenders are too used to it anyway to continually work.

Slattery’s Bar normally show our games should you find yourself over that way on Saturday.

My son and husband and co went there when they were on his stag do and they made them all very welcome. A good time was had by all if the pics are anything to go by
The Emerald Toffees Supporters Club is based there. A good bunch that I first encountered when they were based on O’Connell St in Murray’s Bar- another spot worth visiting @anjelikaferrett.
