Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all. I’m suffering with a bad head cold at the moment , a day in today I think. I’m also starting to see the changes occurring in the garden and on my runs, it always brings a smile to my face as I start to see the Snowdrops emerging in the hedgerows. Another few weeks to get to their peak and I’ll enjoy my run down Snowdrop Alley 🙂. Have a good day all.
Hope you feel better soon x

Afternoon all, got back from shopping and shortly after had a nice gentleman call at the door. Said his name was Bill and he lived round the corner. Yeah right. He had noticed as he was passing that the mortar on the roof ridge tiles was loose. He could check it for me, I politely refused but he assured me he’d do it for free. I pointed out the roof was only a couple of years old nevertheless the mortar was loose but it was up to me to he muttered as he went on his merry way. Thing is he didn’t call at any other houses, despite some of the roofs being original and some clearly in need of attention, the houses were built in the 1930’s. I think he must have clocked me coming back from the shop and thought I was ripe for ripping off. B*****d!

Have a pair of binoculars handy or a drone ! It is possible that there is some loose after the winds.

Well on the final leg of my journey home. Flight was good and a few films plus lots of food and alcohol made the 12 hours pass remarkably quickly. Few hiccups with cancelled trains this morning but now on the intercity to Penzance. After a quick shop for essentials in Falmouth I'll hopefully be home by 6.
Hope you are home tucked in snugly with a glass of red by now .

Evening all. Well it’s nice to know that you can still get first class service from the NHS. As I mentioned Mr P had his out-patient appointment on Friday where a lovely young doc did a very thorough assessment and informed him that he would recommend a total knee replacement, which they would be able to do as a day case hopefully due to his age and general good health. Said there was a 3 - 6 month wait, and when we explained about our holiday he said we could wait til summer if they couldn’t fit him in in time before it (given flying restrictions etc).
To our surprise he got a text message on Friday night offering a pre op assessment on 6th Feb, a letter following that up came on Monday. The OT rang him to go through some stuff about what to do pre and post op yesterday. Then he got sent a link to an app which gives you exercises and advice and you can link it to your phone so they can see how much exercise you are doing, takes baseline measurements of his knee and other health issues so they can repeat it after to get clinical outcome measures.
We did say he would be up for stepping in at short notice if any cancellations happened so we are keeping our fingers crossed 🤞 . And to top it all his consultant is Greek and a big football fan (sadly Villa but if he gets Mr P better we can forgive that, but I will have to have a moan about their keeper wasting time).

Wow I am so happy for you both as it will make the holiday so much more special if Mr P has more mobility .Now he needs to watch his weight to put less strain on the new knee . I would be happy for anyone but for a blue I am chuffed to bits.

Good morning all on this misty day here .I hope all had a good night and are well . We might hear from @Barnfred 55 or he might just be planning his next jaunt to warmer climes . It seems Dithering Davey is doing his thing in vetting any incomers,we must get some reinforcements in before the 3rd or it will be a hard last leg to the season . Have a great day all .COYB

I quite content if someone vets the incomings as Thelwell hadn’t exactly covered himself in glory.

Checked the roof and it’s fine. It’s guaranteed for ten years so if it was damaged the roofer would come back to do any repairs. Sadly the “Your roof is damaged” con is all too common, some pensioners have lost their life savings.

That’s great news.💙

Good morning from Leeds Bradford Airport. Our flight to Dublin has been delayed for an hour due to a technical issue. I'm trying not to think Cape Verde all over again!🤣
Welcome home @Barnfred 55 I've loved your pics. Great news about hubby @Val P . Fingers crossed a cancellation comes up. I've had people knock on our door about the roof too @Gwladysover. Proper con men.
