Doesn’t exist here at all. It’s a Lancashire delicacy, thinly sliced potatoes and onions in shortcrust pastry. Chorley FC, March 2019 - (underneath the peas)

You know what to do next time you’re over - if you like cheese and onion you’ll like butter pies tooDoesn’t exist here at all.
As @kev will happily testify toThose pies are hotter than the surface of the sun. Still delicious mind you.
Mrs J has been veggie since the age of 16 and relates that the only place you could get anything decent to eat was the Armadillo on Mathew Street. When I moved up in 1982 it was one of the most popular eateries in townJust read back and it’s a vegetarian option, so that was why I didn’t know what it was, I didn’t know any vegetarians when I was growing up.
Neither did I thinking about it, but I think it was probably made because it was a cheaper option than meat as well as the religious reasonsJust read back and it’s a vegetarian option, so that was why I didn’t know what it was, I didn’t know any vegetarians when I was growing up.
Totally agree, they are scrummy. I don’t know why they aren’t more widely available. You know what to do next time you’re over - if you like cheese and onion you’ll like butter pies too.

No . I've only ever seen them in Lancashire. Surprised that they serve them at Everton. Our local bakery make a fantastic butter pie. It's lovely but very rich.I’m the same as F born and brought up in Liverpool never heard of a butter pie in my life
Definitely not a Liverpool thing, I’m thinking
I think I’ve said before that I gave up meat about 35 years ago. In those days I was often the only veggie present at various functions/ family gatherings consequently I ate a lot of cheese saladsMorning everyone,
It's day 2 of my ( voluntary) community service!
Spent yesterday at the cricket ground helping at the "Get set weekend " where me and a sanding machine became best mates . At least when I sit on the benches now enjoying my beer I can't blame anyone else for the poor appearance of the thing.
Continuing the veggie theme @Gwladysover they got a barbeque going to feed the volunteers and seeing that they had nothing veggie I politely declined saying that I'd had a big breakfast ( which I had ) . It wasn't that I felt any embarrassment at refusing meat more that I didn't want them to feel embarrassed at not being able to offer me owt.
Today is completely opposite as I'm helping out at the Animals in Need Dog Show and Fair at Lydiate. There you can only get veggie food.
Anyway I will be knackered after my efforts and will need another break in Jersey.
Have a lovely day everyone.
Many years ago , mid 80’s , I used to regularly do a 10 mile race in a village not that far from you, the Whittlesey Show 10. I have vague memories of a little village, scorching hot summer days and running through “ garden hose showers “ mid race to cool down. I’ve no idea if it’s still going .Went dog walking with son and his family this afternoon to Maxey a village about five miles away. Sun was lovely but the wind cut straight through you. Saw lots of butterflies which was good as they seemed to be in short supply last year. They were a bit camera shy but managed to get one of a peacock sunning itself on a hawthorn.
