Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Used to mostly drink in Woolton Village or Gateacre. the Elephant, the Baby Elephant, Coach and Horses, The Bear's Paw, The Black Bull, The Gateacre Grange. Occasionally would go to The Greenhills, (first place I ever got drunk!) or have one in The Kingsman before getting the bus into town.
When we were in the 6th form I had a good mate who lived in Woolton and we'd always do a pub crawl on a Friday night in Gateacre. All those places you mentioned were regular haunts. That would have been 78/79. Sunday night was always Woolton night and we'd usually end up in the baby Elephant and then on to the Squires (If I was lucky enough to get in)

Did you never go to The Heath. That was fairly local to you if you lived off Brodie.

In all fairness mate it was @roydo 's idea about the cancer charity, I merely agreed.

She's doing sound, thanks for asking, her lungs are clearing up, one free of nonsense now and the other is on the mend. She's went to Spain for Christmas to get away from it all, spoke to her last night.

Had a belting time over in Omeath, managed to get a drink in the old man's haunt and buy drinks for his old friends. We won't be laying his ashes to rest there until the old dear is ready and we need to sort out the nuances/permissions first due to the archaic land rules there.

Anyway, absolute gods country!

Nollaig shona to you and yours, slainte.
a Chara hope you'd a good Christmas thats great news about your mum. Where did your Dad drink was it Howes?? Really old traditional irish pub- was always the best pub in Omeath - thats if its even still open now. We had a caravan a couple of miles away in Gyles Quay - spent way, way too many days and nights in Howes. Lol.

21 November 1920.

A Tipperary player was killed that day on the pitch (Michael Hogan) and 100 years on in 2020 Tipp won their first Munster title since that fateful day.

Talk about history directing a result.
This thread knows no bounds lol,, Bloody Sunday now... Hope youd a good Christmas buddy and hope everyone has a happy new year.

very occasionally. Not sure why we didn't go there more often because it was really close. That's been demolished now. They've built houses on the site.

Kildare is the flattest county in Ireland hence the huge horse racing industry there. Kildare Village is a designer shopping centre as well flagging the money about.

Naas is fast becoming a Dublin commuter town and that changes the whole vibe of the place eventually.

Ireland is unrecognisable now from the 80s despite the collapse of the Celtic Tiger.

Castletownbere most famous for the lifeboat station but there endith my knowledge of it.
My Mum also had distant relatives in Wexford. I could never quite work out the relationship. something like third cousins but the families were close and my Mum and her sisters would go on holiday to visit them and they would come to Liverpool. They stayed close all their lives. Mum's cousin still rings my Dad to see how he is. I've been to Wexford a few tines but only once to Cork. I also had a fabulous holiday when I was about 18 with my mate and our respective younger brothers when we hired a boat and spent a week cabin cruising on Lough Erne.

Morning everyone.

Dog got me up early today banging on the door with his bum wanting a poo.

At least I woke with a clear head having had no alcohol yesterday.

Unsurprisingly England lost overnight, surprisingly they made 65 , 15 more than my revised prediction. Its pathetic and something has to change.

Watched the Newcastle game last night. They played well and were unlucky. Man U were awful. Think the game on Thursday will be off. NU didn't have a full bench and picked up 3 injuries and 1 suspension.

Bit wet today so I will do my mums weekly shop and then go to the gym.

@larbert toffee hope you have a lovely break with your parents.

Have a great day all

You have seen over here quite a bit which is good considering how much of a magnet Liverpool remains for Irish visitors.

Yep , Mrs J is of Irish descent and we've spent a bit of time over there.

Particularly loved the area around Kinsale

Spoilsport :)

Not asking for the plot Blue. Just whether Kristen Stewart was convincing playing an English girl. As I said, not many American actresses can pull it off, but she is one of the better ones IMO.
I am a lover of Diana and her story so I may be hard but simply because it wasn't her made me frown ,saying that the longer it went and I got involved in the story the less I noticed .I did however enjoy the fact I watched it .
