Sounds like London to meI think every Finn has been there it is the main hotel ,I found it a bit scripted and all the stuff they had has been on every spy movie anyway .
Did you go onto the roof ? You truly could see all the town . It must have been dire to live there in those times ,here in Finland the people are lovely but if you don't know them they will walk past like you are not there kids as well .
I think it is because they have been ruled by first the Swedes and then the Russians so it is bred into them to keep to themselves and say nothing .
I suspect it was on the Baltic cruise you and Cal did ,did you get outside of Tallinn as it soon gets back to the Russian times if you leave the city .I went with an old neighbour to take stuff to orphanages over there and it was so run down and so many orphans ,quite frightening .
It was on a cruise Blue and you only get around 5/6 hours to get around. Seeing as we like to spend around 2 of those hours having a drink and a nice lunch, we didn't actually get to see the KGB headquarters, but we did walk past it.I think every Finn has been there it is the main hotel ,I found it a bit scripted and all the stuff they had has been on every spy movie anyway .

Yes but I thought it was close to Ayr on the coast....which it definitely isn't.But did you ?
Given it a like blue because of your grandad being on the blues books but drinking a players blood......not sure that gets a like!My granddad was on Everton's books but got upset when they wouldn't sign his brother and left !!!!!
His son ,my uncle took me when I was 18months old in his arms and I think they made me drink the blood of one of the players and I have been hooked since , from 1950 until now .It helped that I lived 10 mins walk away .
In my defence I had misread LTs name. I was searching for Lambert lolYou're not going to let me forget about this are you Fred lol , at least I knew Larbert was in Scotland.
I know the one LT. It used to be run by an old lady from Birkenhead who's husband was a miner.Cum Penmachno? That's a massage parlour in Liverpool.
Whenever I have been to London I have found it the loneliest place ever .Sounds like London to me![]()
The last house we had was in a village of seven houses ,one occuppied by a girl couple who were basketball players of renown ,one from Lithuania had been European Champion ,the other was a Finnish player but they were both professionals .It was on a cruise Blue and you only get around 5/6 hours to get around. Seeing as we like to spend around 2 of those hours having a drink and a nice lunch, we didn't actually get to see the KGB headquarters, but we did walk past it.
We didn't get out into the sticks. We did in Russia when we sent to see the Summer Palace, and that was bad enough. I can only imagine what rural Estonia is like. The people in Tallin were very friendly though. Surprised how many spoke English. We also went to Lithuania and it was the opposite there.
lol Some great memories there @blue1948.Whenever I have been to London I have found it the loneliest place ever .
Got my memory going now ,when we went to the final in '66 I was with a gang of lads from Bootle -from work and friends- before the match we were all starving so headed for this new fangle food place called a Chinese restaurant ,of course one of the lads suggested we do a runner ,I wasn't too sure what they meant ,which became obvious when I was elected to be the last one out -of course no one gave me any money ,so I pushed the girl on the till as she grabbed me and ran as hard as I could with someone yelling in Chinese and saw a glimpse of an cleaver being brandished , anyway I ran with my mate and we ran around a few corners until there was no more noise and jumped over a backyard wall out of site -only to realise we had jumped into the restaurant's yard . It was though the last place they would look so here I am .
Oh I am off now ,one game in the cup we had to play at Sheff. wed ground in a replay but all the coaches were full so I went to Lime St. to see about a special and there two lads from Broadway looking for seats as well ,there weren't any so I suggested we could share the cost and use my car .They agreed and said they had a friend who wanted to come as well so that was the plan,on the afternoon I went to the bridge to pick them as arranged to find the three waitin but one didn't walk so well .
When we got to Sheffield we were told where to park by the police and it was 2 miles from the match ,after as short walk this poor lad said I can't walk any more .Being a builder I said jump on my shoulders and I will carry you a bit . This lad was taller than me so there was a lot of complaints when he was still on my shoulders for the whole match ,I had carried him for over two hours but on the way back I had to admit defeat as it was uphill and he was so upset ! They never paid me until the last second as they got out ,which I found a bit weird .
John Quinn is a name that won't be familiar to many on this forum, not even to many of the 'older' members who frequent this great thread. He had a long, if unremarkable professional career, the highlight of which was undoubtedly that he played for Sheffield Wednesday against Everton in the 1966 FA cup Final.
Although most here may not remember him, he was a boyhood hero to me. He was my cousin, and I looked up to him and admired him as any 10 year old lad with a relative playing top class football would.
Sadly he passed away yesterday aged 82.
RIP 'The mighty Quinn'
