Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning folks. Enjoy your Saturday until 5.30 when it all kicks off...on every level. I'm going to invoke all my religious artefacts to ensure a win. I've got Catholicism, Buddhism and Hinduism covered so far. One of them must like Everton!
I've got a soft spot for Hull. I used to be the Group Liason officer for the Land Registry Hull office so would help the branch reps with personal cases, meetings, recruitment etc. Had some cracking nights out in Hull. One night was in tne casino where for £20 you got a 3 course meal, a glass of wine and £5 to play in the casino.!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. How did the table tennis go @jazzy? And how is Mrs J? @Terrarian are you OK? And also @Methuselah - how's things with you?

No plans today. Think Mum's taxi may be in business today getting the offspring and partners into Durham for a night out later. One thing I still miss from living in a city is decent public transport and the ability to flag down a taxi in tne middle of the road. Rural County Durham has the most awful public transport infrastructure.
I used to holiday in Cum Penmachno near Betws y coed in a slate miners cottage ,there was an old lady from Birkenhead who had survived her miner husband and lived alone all year ,anyway the bus to Betws came at 1PM but the doctors shut at 1PM so she had to phone for drugs and the postman brought them the next post ,Some people don't know when they are well off .

Born into two families of Evertonians. It wasn't an option. I've no idea why my Dad's Irish family chose Everton after coming over from Ireland but they did. My maternal Grandparents were both Scousers. Both Evertonians. My Grandad stopped going to the match in 1933 when someone peed down the back of his best suit! I was never sure which surprised me more - the weeing incident or wearing your best suit for the match! My Nan, who never set foot in Goodison in her whol 80 years, was the most bitter biased Evertonian you could meet.

I met Mr F through mutual friends who I worked with in Birkenhead. One was from Dewsbury and he hooked up with my friend from West Kirby. They moved to Dewsbury, got married and had a joint stag and hen do. I went, Mr F went as a friend of another bloke who was there, who had also worked with us but had transferred to Durham Land Registry- he was from County Durham. The rest as they say is history! When we got married it was far easier for me to transfer my job from Birkenhead to Durham than for him to quit his job and start looking in Liverpool.
Brilliant story. Love it

I was a massive football fan from about the age of 11 and regular at Posh matches (I even went to see the reserveslol). I watched the 66 cup final and I was hooked and Everton became my “first” team and I went to see us whenever I could although this meant it was away games only as travel to Liverpool was difficult.
Wow hooked from afar , a bit like me.

Been to Tallinn too mate. Lovely place. The old KGB headquarters is actually now a tourist attraction.
I think every Finn has been there it is the main hotel ,I found it a bit scripted and all the stuff they had has been on every spy movie anyway .
Did you go onto the roof ? You truly could see all the town . It must have been dire to live there in those times ,here in Finland the people are lovely but if you don't know them they will walk past like you are not there kids as well .
I think it is because they have been ruled by first the Swedes and then the Russians so it is bred into them to keep to themselves and say nothing .
I suspect it was on the Baltic cruise you and Cal did ,did you get outside of Tallinn as it soon gets back to the Russian times if you leave the city .I went with an old neighbour to take stuff to orphanages over there and it was so run down and so many orphans ,quite frightening .

My Dad is actually from Leeds, he kinda supports Leeds but prefers supporting Hunslet in the Rugby league.
It was my Welsh one legged Grandad who used to take me to the games, we used to go early so he could lean against a barrier and I could climb up on the railings of the paddock in the Park end corner where the away supporters are now.
We'd get the bus from Moreton to Woodside, have a cup of tea and a pie on the ferry then a bus from the Pier head to the ground.
Great memories, saw some great games and my absolute heroes were Alan Ball and Joe Royle.

Weathers absolutely horrendous down here yet again. Torrential rain mixed with swirling winds. Just done my ITV 7 and Sky super 6. I'm terrible normally but even worse with FA cup ties.

Going to have posh sausage butties for lunch with lots of tomato sauce and a nice beef and tomato cup a soup. My treat for the day.
Very similar here Fred. Rained constantly from 4pm yesterday and only just stopped.
Animal enclosure ( chicken, goats and sheep ) is a quagmire.

Cum Penmachno? That's a massage parlour in Liverpool.
