Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

That’s a snowy road. Are you good at driving in such conditions? I’m not at all, maybe is the Colombian in me lol
Yes I am used to the conditions here but we do have spiked tyres ,which are much better in icy conditions .
I just googled but you too are allowed them !
If you take a driving test here we have to drive on ice to pass . I was working for a while on element houses and they were often in the middle of nowhere so I learned quickly or I got snowed in .
Tha road in the photo is just our garden ,the rest is done by a guy with a tractor and plough

Not sure where you live Blue, but here we change our tires over from summer to winter tires, as we have snow on the ground for 4-6 months

We put the all weather ones on , seems to do the trick, oh and we have to plug our cars in when it gets cold, unless your posh and have a garage ?

Morning all,

Another day, another walk. This time to a woodland nature reserve that's about 10 minutes walk from our house. The locals call it Five Arches due to the five arches under the bridge that crosses the river. Here are some photos I took today compared to some I took in the summer.

Hope @Barnfred 55 and @jazzy have safe and pleasant journeys and everyone else is having a good day.

very nice

Totally envious of all those on here who will be at the Old Lady on Saturday...gave up my s/t this season due to deteriorating health...
This thread is an oasis in the madness that sometimes infects the GOT community..
Makes me forget my own problems seeing how others have coped with their own issues....health,bereavement, et al.
That's life though...we can become stronger if we learn from all our experiences good or bad.... I'm still learning nearing my 70th birthday (hopefully) in August this year.
That's my target, along with my 25th wedding anniversary in May... Love to you all

That's a couple of major milestones you've got to look forward to, mate. When was your first visit to Goodison? Mine was September 1973. A 3-0 win against Bobby Robson's Ipswich.

Keep positive and make sure you and your missus look after yourselves.

THe weather seems to be very much the same here and in Canada ,yes we do change them and they police tell us as they wear down the roads ,we do have friction / all year tyres but I drive better on spiked ones .Yes we have heaters in the engines as well ,I do have a garage which is great as I don't have to clear the snow but it is not heated so I plug the car in a couple of hours before we go out .
Did I ask you if you have Winter chanterelles ?

@Barnfred 55 and @jazzy enjoy the holidays.

@anjelikaferrett hope your dad is doing better today

@larbert toffee enjoy the trip to Goodison. I saw mentions of going to Stenhousemuir games, nothing beats lower level football IMHO, it's almost therapeutic watching lads earning maybe 300 a week bust their gut for 90 mins. Friend of mine playing with Ayr United in the championship over there, it hasn't been possible to get over but with everything easing there is a small possibility I get over before the season ends (don't think he will be there next season).

Mad seeing people talking about not sleeping as I don't think I have had a proper nights sleep in about 4 years. Go around exhausted all day then, finally went about it and have an appointment with a specialist on Tuesday morning but they are fairly certain it's sleep apnea which hopefully can be managed and improved if not cured.

Have a good day and weekend folks
My husband was diagnosed with sleep apnea several years ago. He would wake up always tired not matter how long he slept and he was also snoring a lot so he did the sleeping test and the doctor found out that throughout the night he stopped breathing several times and that lack of oxygen was making him tired and was having bad effects on his heart and also his weight. So at night he sleeps with a machine, it took him (and me) a couple of months to get used to it but now he can't live without it. He even purchased solar panels and a battery so when we go camping he can take his machine with us, otherwise he wakes up feeling exhausted. Good luck with the appointment at the specialist, if you do have sleep apnea make sure to try different face mask settings until you find the most comfortable for you.

Good afternoon all. Dad still in hospital and having more tests. I've managed to speak to him. He's giving nothing away. It's like having a conversation with Secret Squirrel!

There's been another crash on the A1 this morning. Road closed both directions so all the traffic coming through where we live. Don't know if you read recently about the lorry driver who caused a crash in which 3 people died. He got 8 years in prison- he'd been looking at porn on his phone immediately before the crash. That was the same junction, right by where we live. Hopefully this one is less dramatic with no fatalities.
Going to the gym tonight and tomorrow morning. Might try and incorporate a takeaway into my calorie allowance tomorrow.

Hope all our travellers are having good journeys. And finally COYB! Really up for tomorrow.
Sorry to read about your dad over the last few days Anj. I've been taking in some of the posts over the last week but, tbh, I haven't been sober for the best part of a week and shudder to think about what I written in here. Hope I haven't upset anyone. I'm home safe and sound now and will catch up on the last week over the next few days in between doing all my washing.

The old buggers are/were all made of the same cloth I think. Never want any fuss made and all we want to do is make sure they are all right. Mine are all gone now but they both had a good innings (I am the youngest of 7 kids) so I know exactly what you're going through with them.

Hope you have had all your jabs mate. Just heard that your lot are threatening to outlaw the sale of whacky baccy to the unvaccinated. They reckon it's the best way of getting the vaccination rates up.

Canada has just gone up in my estimations lol
