Funeral was great mate. Sounds weird to say that but he was a special guy and was given a really good send off by hundreds. Saw some old friends, some of who I hadn't seen for 20 years and I got lot's of big hugs. To a man they all knew about Cal, and of course my brother, who was in the same group of friends, also passed away last year, Shocked if I haven't caught covid after that. These were good mates, not just acquaintances, so of course you just pick up where you left off last time you saw them. Some great stories told and we just laughed so much. Didn't leave until about 6pm so that's 8 hours worth and it was still going strong then.OK good morning everyone.
Breakfast made and eaten.
It is pretty cold out there with frost on the car.
So, it's mum's birthday today - 94 a grand old age and fortunately apart from being quite deaf ( but she can hear OK 1 on 1 ) and having occasional backache she is remarkably fit and well. Whilst my cousin will keep an eye on her for the next 2 weeks she lives very independently, indeed she will cook him pasties.
Given the current problems of @larbert toffee and @anjelikaferrett with their respective parents I feel so lucky.
Taking her out to lunch before final preparations.
That reminds me this is a massive weekend for @larbert toffee with his grandson having his first visit to Goodison. I hope that he finds it as awe-inspiring as I did on my first visit and that Big Dunc , the team and crowd are right up for the Villa game and get the result that we desperately need.
With a 12.30 ko it will be 7.30am over there so a big decision as to whether I find a TV showing it on board and annoy Mrs J that early into the holiday !
@Barnfred 55 I trust that the funeral went OK yesterday and that your heads not too bad today and that you have a safe trip home tomorrow.
Have a smashing time everyone. WiFi very patchy last time we were in the Caribbean so probably won't be posting much.
I know you're a connoisseur of the the old style pubs in town H. Had a good night out along Dale Street with some old workmates on Tuesday. Started off at the Ship and Mitre, and took in the Excelsior, a couple of pubs I don't remember the name of, The Vernon, Rigby's and finished off with last orders at The Saddle. All old haunts apart from the 2 I can't remember the name of obviously. Ha ha. Mention some names and I may remember, one was just off Dale Street.I didn’t realise that was the case with @larbert toffee , potentially a fantastic atmosphere to bring a youngster even if the football might not live up to it ! Certainly much better than if we hadn’t sacked the other fella.
Zatty Sassy's back lolI'm an early bird too Even on the weekends which drives me crazy because at least during the week the gym opens at 5:30 but on Saturday is 8 am so it messes with my schedule.
I wish you had too but you didn't want to listen to me
Happy to hear you and Mrs. J got negative results and are going to make it to the Caribbean. I hope you both have a fabulous time!
David, that's so upsetting, I'm very sorry you have to deal with such rubbish thing to be done to your truck just to steal garden umbrellas. I hope your car insurance covers the damage.
Jazzy, a very happy birthday wish to your mum. She is indeed very fortunate to have arrived to such a wise age with only the occasional backache, may her health continue for longer.
LT, I'm super excited for your grandson to get his tickets and hear about his reaction, he is going to be thrilled. No having Benitez in charged is going to make this match a great one, I've been reading how excited people are about supporting Duncan on Saturday. It seems the players are pumped up about it too and want to have a good performance so this match seems one that your grandson is going to remember forever. Have a great time with your family!
Ange, I'm so sorry to read this news about your dad, I hope they are able to finally find out why he is dealing with that bleeding again. The Royal's visiting policy sounds absurd though
I feel your pain, Ange. I had a brutal gym session this morning but now I'm feeling very satisfy with my accomplishment and you should too. Keep it up! Having your daughter to workout together is so nice, I wish I also had a partner but nor my husband or my mom are fans of the gym. They rather walk or exercise outdoors.
I'm also super excited about the game against Villa, I have the feeling we are going to have a great match. Did you read Pickford's article, he seems to imply that the players are much happier training now and will give everything for Duncan because he is highly respected. Sounds like many of them feel much better now that Benitez is gone.
Thanks for sharing these fantastic shots. I love to be able to a appreciate the same pic but during different times of the year.
Same here, it is another cold day and we are supposed to get more snow this evening. I really not looking forward to it. @blue1948 I admire your endurance in such a weather. The more I think about it the more I'm contemplating with the hubby moving somewhere warm when we retire.
I hope your double sided vision has improved ?
Hundreds mate. Alan Mac gave me a lift back to my hotel as I was out again at 7.30 seeing friends. He looks just the same as he ever did. I know Cliff Brittles but he was more a mate of my brothers. Bernie Henry was also a really good mate of my brothers. Bernie was seriously ill about 10 years go but he came through it and you'd never had imagined our kid would go before him.Bernie Henry yep good player in his day,
Hows Alan Mac doing ?
bet there was a good turnout
I love how you try to help all of us ,so this is for you :-My husband was diagnosed with sleep apnea several years ago. He would wake up always tired not matter how long he slept and he was also snoring a lot so he did the sleeping test and the doctor found out that throughout the night he stopped breathing several times and that lack of oxygen was making him tired and was having bad effects on his heart and also his weight. So at night he sleeps with a machine, it took him (and me) a couple of months to get used to it but now he can't live without it. He even purchased solar panels and a battery so when we go camping he can take his machine with us, otherwise he wakes up feeling exhausted. Good luck with the appointment at the specialist, if you do have sleep apnea make sure to try different face mask settings until you find the most comfortable for you.
