Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I am an old fashioned Catholic. I recently finished a BA in Theology and am currently doing an MA in Biblical Studies. It is important to keep the Faith despite many challenges. It is a comfort in difficult times.

....and yes I Believe God is happy for me to have a few Guinness :)
That's impressive. I'm sure you are completing those for personal enrichment, not because you want to pursue a career as a priest, right?

I was raised as a Catholic but as I get older I identify myself more with the teachings of budism. But I agree that keeping faith despite the challenges is important.

I am a married, retired Civil Servant. I have always been fascinated by faith and reality. I respect my fellow humans with all faiths and none.

However, as a law degree holder, the evidence from the early Church, the behaviour of the apostles after the crucifixion, the amazing conversion of the zealous Pharisee that was Paul, as well as some personal experiences, convince me that the evidence is strongly in favour of a Real intelligent Creator.

Also, the man who was Jesus certainly existed. I don't force this down anybody's throats.

None of us knows for certain, but with my legal hat on, I believe.

Sassy, we just had Nora (our dog not my missus) spayed we used a pet onesie, so much better than a cone, you just undo the back when the go outside for a whizz, and they can’t get at the stitches
I listened to your advise and I tried to order one for my cat but Amazon won’t deliver it until Monday. So I went to a local pet shot and found this one but once I put it on Fresca she looked more snuggled and unhappy that the satellite collar ? So I may have to try the next size up tomorrow to see if it works better for her. I’m thinking tonight will be another sleepless night.

Stunning pics @Barnfred 55 . I love old buildings. I am forever amazed that people built them with the most basic tools. Durham Cathedral is utterly beautiful. Parts of it are over 1000 years old. There are huge carved pillars inside it. I just look at this and think "Wow , somebody did all those carvings with little more than a chisel." My other favourite place - not quite as old but still beautiful is The Sacre Coeur in Paris
I had an old carpenter friend who worked on the Anglican cathederal ,he knew masons who had worked their whole working life on that one building ,have you ever seen the carved mice in there ?

I do not believe in Christ or the bible but I love to hear about people having enough belief in something or someone to have faith and the peace of mind it gives them . I too am thinker more of Buddha as I get older ,so when I grow up I just might take it up .

Have you ever read the book Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. It's about the building of a medieval cathedral and all the politics involved. It's a brilliant book if you're interested in that sort of thing.
They made that into a PC game, I have it, never played it though, might do now. I have only ever read one Ken Follet book, can't remember it's name.

I actually did google it the other day as I wasn't quite sure where it was and whether I'd been there. I haven't.

If you like old churches, google St Just in Roseland, probably the prettiest church in Cornwall. It's set in it's own gardens, complete with it's own holy well, on the banks of the River Fal. It really is stunning.
Absolutely spot on. Visited it 2 years ago stunning. The walk took from St Mawes is lovely
