Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning all. It was -6C when I took Mr F to work this morning and there was a really thick heavy white frost on everything. Very pretty but freezing cold. Starting to warm up now , the sun has just come out. I've been to get some Euros - surprisingly good exchange rate, just need to finish packing and then then we're ready to go. Need to ring my Dad as well. I think My daughter is looking forward to having the house to herself for a few days.

Hope you are OK @Terrarian.

Also forgot to mention @blue1948 that ever since you mentioned dordle some weeks ago I have been hooked. Much trickier than wordle!

Have a great day all x

Afternoon folks. I have just spent the most stressful, frustrating 2 hours of my life trying to complete the Spanish Health forms for our trip on Tuesday. There's nothing wrong with the process - mine went through like a dream but technophobe Mr F who has a mobile phone but never takes it anywhere caused no end of problems. Downloading the NHS app, verifying his identity - which involved his passport and a video in order to get his COVID pass, uploading his passport details again, more ID verification, COVID pass would not generate on his phone, had to go on the website to get it. I have now completed the process and feel like a very large drink is in order. I've also just checked into our hotel on line which also involved scanning passports. That took about 27 goes as well! I honestly felt like binning it all off and going to Scotland instead. Meanwhile Mr F snoozes on the couch oblivious.

I had no idea Sugar Puffs were no longer a thing. I'm actually quite shocked. You all sound like you had very lovely Saturdays doing things that you all enjoy - Hope the hangover is receding Fred. Brown sauce is the best thing to have on a bacon butty. Sweet chili sauce is quite good but brown cannot be beaten.

The results were favourable to us yesterday, fingers crossed we can get out of the mire and start moving up the table. I'm cautiously optimistic that Frank can do it for us. I'm warming to Tory Frank quite a bit. ? ? Could do with something against Spurs. I'll never understand how they qualify as a "big 6" team. We've managed to win the league 3 times since they last did. I genuinely think that Conte is regretting his move, that interview he did a couple of weeks ago was a real "please sack me I hate it here" message.

The situation in Ukraine becomes more heartbreaking by the day. And also more worrying. I hope there can be a peaceful resolution but it appears unlikely.

Every week we take part in a football predictions competition run by the working men's club one of Mr F's workmates goes to. You have to predict the result of 7 matches - win lose or draw. We all have a go. Yesterday my daughter was within six minutes of winning £1750 ( or at least a share of it!) she had Blackpool and Stoke as a draw, all her other results were up. It was 0-0 until Blackpool scored in the 84th minute. How unlucky was that.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday folks x
What made it even worse was that a certain Josh Bowler scored the winner. Remember him?

I, or rather Cal, had the same issues sorting out our covid passes before our cruise last year. I had to record a video of myself reading out some numbers. Crazy.

Morning all,

My good intentions today about a gym session and a few hours gardening are out the window when I woke up with a bad back.

It's nothing serious and I get it occasionally and it usually goes after a couple of days . Painful ( nothing like you have to put up with @Terrarian ) but no point making it worse.

So after doing mum's weekly shop ( can't get over how busy Aldi was at 8am on a Monday ) I'm having a lazy day reading and listening to music.

I must admit that the news from Ukraine is so unremittingly heartbreaking that I am beginning to subscribe to the @Gwladysover theory of not watching the news.

Can't say I'm looking forward to tonight's match. I know Spurs are hit and miss but we are shockingly bad away from home. Ah well fingers crossed ?

Oh my goodness, yes. I didn't realise it was him. Even more annoying ? That's what Mr F had to do, record himself saying some numbers. Then I realised that i gave the GP my mobile number for both of us when we registered so had to go back in and put my number on his NHS app so the information would be the same and it would recognise it. What a palaver.

Morning all! Beautiful morning here and one I hope to take advantage of. I have to work but aiming for a 10 min walk every hour to get out and get some fresh air.

There’s just something about us playing on a Monday night that I can’t warm to. Maybe it’s not having a game at the weekend or maybe it’s the result impacting your week just as it’s begun? Just don’t know.

I will of course retract all this if we get a point even ?
I'm not expecting anything out of the game and am quite calm about it. If we get any sort of result it will be a bonus. I believe our home form will be enough to move us up the table away from the relegation zone. The Goodison crowd will be key and if the players continue to put the effort in, and I have no doubt they will under Frank, then Goodison will become a fortress again.

Morning all, good to hear you are feeling better @blue 1948. I’m finding that avoiding the news is the best course for me, suppose I am burying my head in the sand but worrying about events totally beyond my control is doing no one any good. Hope you are well @Terrarian as I see you haven’t popped by lately. Sun is just coming out here, have a good day everyone.
I'm the same Gwladys. I'll get an update once a day but otherwise I consciously avoid the news. Don't think of it as burying your head. Think of it as damage control to your feelings. It's something I've got used to doing over the last few months.

I was thinking the same about T. Hope he's OK. He's probably been game bingeing knowing him but equally it can be something else.

Totally agree about the covid beaurocracy pre holiday Fred.
I reckon I'm dead organised with paperwork and it absolutely did my head in.
It's all so illogical too.
Now that we don't test on the return to the country and test and trace has gone out the window the passenger locator form is redundant . However the government stupidly insist that you still have to fill it in.

I stick to wordle. Don't want to tax my brain to much. lol

I've actually found a fantastic way of beating the system. I do it on my phone first and work out the daily answer (which I have a 100% success ratio by the way), and it's amazing the number of times I guess it in 1 when I then go and do it on my computer. lol

Spurs are every bit as inconsistent as us there is every chance of getting something out of it.

Hope your back recovers soon. What are you reading? Anything interesting? I agree about the news, I've just read that Putin has said that the people evacuating through the "humanitarian" corridors can only go to Russia or Belarus. What a b*st*rd. I've also seen some pictures of lines of pushchairs at Polish railway stations that Polish Mums have left for Ukrainian Mums who might need them. There are good people in the world - we must remember that in the face of such horror.
