Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning all ,belated birthday greetings where applicable ,I hope all wake refreshed and invigorated on this beautiful morning .Have a great day all.
I forgot to mention after having blood tests on Thursday I had a call from the doctor yesterday morning ,less than 24 hours after to say all was well except my good cholesterol is not good enough so I have to eat foods that help it such as Burgers, fries, cakes ,ice cream and lots of chocolate ,I wish .
Purple foods ,oily fish , aubergine and avocado it seems helpalong with olive oil.
Uh oh, my husband had the same news from his blood test results :( so he is also going have to improve his diet. I have to admit that we all have a weakness for chocolate, ice cream and cake in our household. Although we also eat lots of veggies and avocados. But seems like the hubby needs more.

Btw, I keep reading news about Finland, yesterday I read that once again Finland was named the happiest country in the world. Must be nice to live among such happiness ?

Good morning friends. The sun is shining here in Asheville already, it is going to be a gorgeous day with temperatures up to 20s later today. We got invited to a weekend St Patrick’s festivities. The brother of one of our good friends has a big party every year, but since Covid began he has paused the festivities. Today he is having once again a gathering but a small version of it and we got invited. His niece is one of my daughter’s best friend so the whole family is looking forward to it, and even more now that we know she has some Irish DNA lol I’m trying to get motivated to go to the gym so after posting this I should stir away from exploring the forum more or I will get sucked into laziness. I had another great week at work, really loving my new position so things are going very well with me and my family, but my heart still hurts for the people of Ukraine as this war continues happening :( So I’m even more grateful for my life at the moment and for the peacefulness that I get to experience as I lay here on the couch with Fresca. With who I’m totally in love with ?

Here is a pic of her on me this morning.

Had a lovely day.

My old turntable was returned in its gorgeous refurbished state and been enjoying 70s and 80s vinyl that I'd largely forgot about.

But here's the thing with the human mind / brain , even though I hadn't listened to those records in over 30 years I knew every lyric and note that came next.
This is so so true Jazz. I'm not great on song lyrics, probably because I'm now tone deaf. But when I was younger I used to sing along to my favourite tunes. To test your theory I've just played "More fool me" a little known Genesis song from the Selling England album that Phil Collins sang lead on. Probably haven't heard it for over 30 years but I knew every single word and note.

Sadly I no longer have any of my vinyl collection. Back in the 90s we bought a system that didn't have a turntable, and not seeing a use for my vinyl I actually gave it away. A decision I now regret, although I do have a considerable amount of my old collection on disc or my Ipod. A lot of my vinyl was poor quality anyway. I didn't really look after it well when I was young, plus a considerable percentage of the collection was second hand, purchased in an old record shop near Whitechapel called Probe. I started getting into music in my young teens and my pocket money had to stretch, so only really started buying new albums once I started work at 18. Problem with second hand vinyl is the quality is not always great.

It certainly is. There are various gardens there as well as the parkland but there’s an admission charge for those. The picture shows the swans on the statue garden lake which glide across the water. They look stunning when the sun catches them. Photo doesn’t really do them justice as it’s a still taken from a video.View attachment 159569
Looks a bit like Sefton Park in Liverpool. I used to enjoy our walks there and around Calderstones Park.

Didn’t you know cars are like black holes that lead temporarily to a parallel universes? ? At least that’s my theory because I can manage to lose things in my car that are not to be found at the moment when they are needed or wanted, just to magically show up at the same place you have been searching for hours at some point later. So don’t worry, it wasn’t God punishing you for that whopper ?
You are right. Just been have a look in the car and there was my card wedged between the seat belt buckle and the seat. I cancelled it yesterday. Typical!

In my experience most women are very capable of losing things in purses that measure 6 by 6 inches. So a whole car must seem like haystack. lol

Similar story, bought into the CD revolution and gave all my records away to a charity shop. So wish I hadn't. Probe records? OMG. the workplace of the utterly astonishing Pete Burns. IUsed to see him regularly on his way to work when I was doing my Saturday job in Littlewoods. He would literally stop traffic as he walked by. If you ever had the misfortune to be served by him in Probe and he disapproved of your choice of record he would pretty much throw it at you. worst customer service ever! lol I never understood why he had all that cosmetic surgery done. He was a good looking bloke - very striking.

I remember being on a works night out in the middle of winter, and all the coats were just chucked over a table in the bar we were in. When it was time to go I couldn't find my coat, but was that drunk I didn't realise until the following morning that my card wallet must have been in one of the pockets. So I eventually got though to the bar we were in and probably spoke to the cleaner. She said she couldn't see any coats lying about, but she'd leave a message for the manager who was due in at lunch time. It was about 10am at this stage and I couldn't take the risk of my cards being used. There were bank cards, credit cards, store cards in the wallet and I spent the next hour calling around everywhere and cancelling them all. Next minute, one of my mates calls to apologise that he'd taken my coat home by mistake. I mean, they weren't even similar, he must have been totally bladdered. lol

She’s so cute, Sass. So pleased that your job is going well.

Hi everybody. Lovely sunny afternoon in County Durham. I've done overtime this morning, had a fish finger butty for luch ( with rocket to add a touch of greenery and class ? ? ) Life is good. It's amazing what an Everton win and a bit of sunshine can do for your mood. So glad you are enjoying your job @Sassy Colombian. I have no plans for the weekend but if the weather stays nice, might go for a walk. I also want to get out into the garden and do some work on it. Does anybody know how to get rid of molehills?

Funnily enough I don't recall Pete Burns from Probe and I should do really because for 2 or 3 years after it opened he shop in town I was a regular in there. I remember going to a works night out in a place called Hunters Lodge, and somebody mentioned it was owned by his parents. He was well known by that stage so must have been after You Spin me round. Agreed he was a very handsome man. Couldn't believe it when I saw him in that celebrity Big Brother show. But the same can be said for all the beautiful young girls who currently wreck their natural features with botox. What posses them?
