Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

It's a beautiful day down here, and warmer than it has been. So I decided to make a vigil this morning to Bosloe House, one of the NT properties Cal worked at and also where the stores were. It's about a mile and a half away and the plan was to pick up a pasty from the local store on the way, and after visiting Bosloe, I would continue down to Durgan village and have lunch siting on the beach. Sadly the shop was out of pasties and sausage rolls so I had no lunch, so I still went to Bosloe but then came back home for lunch. I was going to take a few photo's when I was down there as the garden is absolutely amazing, but it isn't quite in bloom yet so I'll leave that for another day. I have taken a couple of shots of views along the walk which I'll hopefully post later. I had a new SIM sent to me which I installed yesterday, but I think there may be a problem uploading pictures. I'll find out later.

Anyway, I'm coping better than I expected today. Things are definitely getting easier and I'm hurting less as time goes by. I took the opportunity to phone one of my good mates when I was out and had a chat about Cheltenham and all things Everton. He said the rumour going around up there is that DBB is having an affair with Unsworth. Not sure if anybody else has heard that. Not that I'm one to gossip mind you.
Good to hear that you are feeling easier and hurting less, sure Cal would be proud of the way you are coping. As to DBB and Unsworth if it’s true there’s no accounting for taste.lol

Thanks Anje.

When we moved in it was just a field with loads of rubbish and about 15 mature trees.

We filled 10 skips in the first month just to get rid of the rubbish.

It's a big plot about 2 acres in total.

We have developed it piecemeal when funds and time have allowed , much more so since we both retired.

In the back there are 5 "rooms"

1. Mediterranean garden - dry garden raised and with excellent drainage .

2. Japanese / Asian courtyard with water feature and planted with acers , camelia , cherry , viburnum and magnolia.

3. Main garden with lawn and borders of pittosporums , rhododendrons , azaleas and geraniums

4. Large pond and bog garden with lawn and herbaceous border

5 Newly planted arboretum leading to the animal enclosure.

It's a lot of hard work but does look good when in bloom.
Wow! That's very impressive. I bet it gives you so much satisfaction.

Afternoon all, hope you are all well and enjoying another day of stunning Spring weather. Had a trip into town this morning and went for a coffee in the Cathedral Precincts, so peaceful there, hard to imagine you are just a few feet away from the city centre. Not a bad view either.View attachment 160064
Beautiful, I love old churches and cathedrals - could look round them for hours

It's the 6 month anniversary of Cal passing today. It seems to have gone so quickly.

Something weird happened last night. I woke up during the night and needed to spend a penny. That isn't unusual at my age, but what was unusual is that I was "ping" completely awake. Normally I'm still half asleep and get back into bed and am away with the fairies within seconds. But I'm totally wide awake. So I get my phone out to play my word game that I'm semi addicted too in the hope I start feeling tired again. I'd only had about 4 hours sleep. Anyway I noticed the time was 4.34 am when I switched my phone on. After about 10 minutes it suddenly occurred to me that Cal was pronounced dead at 4.30am, which was about the time I woke up suddenly. Coincidence?
I was thinking about you today Fred before I read this. I thought it must be somewhere around 6 months since you lost Cal. I definitely think there is something in these random occurrences and I also believe in an afterlife. I'm convinced that the people who loved you in this life don't stop loving you when they move on to the next. She was probably dropping in to make sure you were OK. You've been amazing over the last six months, she would be so proud of you and has probably laughed her socks off at your washing machine traumas! Hugs x

Hi guys, not long back in from having a lovely Indian meal in South Shields. Three courses £12.95 - can't be robbed. I don't know why I even bother reading the menu. Onion bhaji, prawn Madras, vegetable pilau, ice cream. Every single time! So with a couple of drinks each, some poppadums and naan breads to share, the bill came in at £20 a head.
I'm shocked and stunned at DBB and Unsworth if it's true.

It has been a lovely day here, not as warm as yesterday bur still nice, we're tentatively planning a barbecue for Sunday if the weather holds.

@blue1948 despite living in the frozen North our daffodils are putting on a decent show.

Here are some in our Arboretum. I only planted the trees 18 months ago and it will be 5 years before we see anything worthwhile ( although you can see a pink magnolia I the foreground).

However to give some interest in the meanwhile I planted over 5000 bulbs ( no wonder my back is knackered) and here are some of the daffodils.

We've had snowdrops and crocuses.
Tulips are next then camasias
Lovely ,camasias I don't know and if it is a typo I am not being funny .Ours are one called "susan" which is a soulangeana and mag.loebneri" leonard messel .

Not so sure how Cal would feel about the brown knickers though!

I think it is called love Fred ,we all have a body clock and it seems yours is set to Cal time .The best definition I have heard of "heaven " is when a friend told me it is in our minds .We all know Cal is in heaven with you ,it shines out of every orafice and long may that continue .

Good morning all on this cloudy day in Finland ,I hope all slept well and @Barnfred 55 got a good night's sleep this time. @jazzy you have a fine spread and all your own work ,I built my own house and had 1000 sq.m and that was hard enough .
Some fine photos guys and gals to wake up and see thanks for them all.
DBB and Unsy ? I have to stop thinking about that one .
What is the word game Fred ?
Have a great day all .

Morning all, looks another lovely day, temps are great for march really, not sure where we will walk today, went down the docks again yesterday, we will be calling in at my sisters for a brew on the way home though.

Unfortunately I reported those IG accounts that wanted Daisy as an influencer, the second one was 100% a scam, I pulled them up on it and they didn't even deny it lol I was almost accepting the first one scrafandtail but then I got a second message off a different person for the same company, so decided I'd report them for scamming.

Good job I know things to look for and aren't sucked in so easily but others will get caught up in the free gear bit. If they ask for any bank details just swerve instantly.
