It looks enormous. Have only seen one Irish navy ship before and it would likely fit in a porthole of that beast.

My ship was part of the Nimitz task group in Iraq.
Them Yank carriers are different gravy.
They can’t even get into our dock yards properly they are that big.

Not sure mate.
It seems to have been doing the same trip and excercises around the UK that I did on HMS Invincible once. That stopped in Liverpool as well.
Guess it’s getting ready to be on stand by.

We were doing Ops with it ( I was on a destroyer, quick ship like ) and the Nimitz just upped power and left us for dead !

Possibly. Dont take a day to day interest in aircraft carriers, but they are impressive.

My experience, not as a military person, but someone who has close friends/relative who did serve, is once away, its more about your mates/unit/ship/squadron whatever that trumps most else.

edit. That reads terribly, but getting everyone home safe is #1.

For context, I have never actually spoken to a soldier in real life but growing up in South Armagh I saw them around.

Suppose I have never got my head around the motivation bit.
