Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

No . I've only ever seen them in Lancashire. Surprised that they serve them at Everton. Our local bakery make a fantastic butter pie. It's lovely but very rich.
My cheese and onion pie was made in Accrington so maybe that’s why - the only reason I know this is because I commented on it the other week, wondering why they didn’t give custom to local businesses.

Here's a couple of photos showing how the arboretum is developing.

Looks lovely in the spring sunshine.

There was a feature on BBC news yesterday about magnolia and that there are 55 different varieties. I've just counted and we've got 28!

Have a lovely day everyone.View attachment 302451View attachment 302452
Beautiful and serene ,well done .

Hello everybody. Busy weekend so far. Charlotte's baby shower was lovely. The hotel bar was open so I may have indulged in a little too much pinot! She starts her maternity leave next Sunday and baby is coming on 24th. All very exciting! It was good to see Chris and Sophie too. Today has been more visits to the tip, more sorting rubbish out and a visit to Costco where we bought a new TV as well as a totally unexpected purchase of a bird bath/fountain type combo.
It's a beautiful day today. Lovely and sunny - your magnolias are gorgeous @jazzy
And the rs are 3-1 down. I've had worse Sundays!

@Barnfred 55 10 quid for a pasty not far from you, now that’s what I call a posh pasty

A Cornish pasty seller in one of Britain's most picturesque villages has complained that whingeing locals are stopping her from charging £13.50 per pasty.

Terri Munday runs the Mousehole Deli and Kitchen near Penzance, Cornwall, where it costs £10 to have a pasty to eat in.

She had planned to increase her prices to £13.50 this month - but told MailOnline she was prevented by 'abusive' customers moaning about money.

Don't know the place mate. We were frequent visitors to Mousehole, but we'd always lunch at the Rock Pool cafe, one of our favourite haunts in all of Cornwall. I've had a look at their menu though and the pasty at £10 seems quite reasonably priced by comparison to other stuff. I think the "eating in" element is part of it, but the whole place looks pretty expensive to me, even by Cornish prices. £20 for fish and chips or a burger, and £17.50 for a crab sandwich, are all a good 30% higher than what you'd expect to pay at a decent daytime cafe. Anyway, nothing like getting the locals behind you by calling them a bunch of whingers.

I still pay £3.50 in my local shop for pasties, and my favourte pasties from Gear farm are also less than a fiver. That seems to be the going rate from the better named suppliers such as Annes and Philps, and the bigger mass produced stuff from the likes of Rowes and Warrens are only around £4.

I can't understand anybody wanting to eat a pasty with a knife and fork sitting down in a cafe or restaurant. They're meant to be eaten on the go out of the paper bag.;)

Looks absolutely gorgeous.

Many years ago , mid 80’s , I used to regularly do a 10 mile race in a village not that far from you, the Whittlesey Show 10. I have vague memories of a little village, scorching hot summer days and running through “ garden hose showers “ mid race to cool down. I’ve no idea if it’s still going .
As far as I know it’s not still going, one thing that is though is the Straw Bear Festival. Here’s a clip as the man says they do things a bit differently in Whittlesey, they’re a strange lot.
