Metro Mayor Steve Rotherham

Have clubs/sponsors ever had to front up cash for infrastructure projects in the past? It just seems like something that should be sorted by the local authority tbh. I do feel like the club/TFG may be the ones who have to provide a solution though as the transport problems are indisputable and it’s a bit of a PR disaster for all.

I don't know. My guess would be Man City would have.

View attachment 300929I posted it in the other thread but he's my conversation with him for anyone interested.
Should be on the wing for England rugby, that last 5 seconds was super slippery, "I don't know let's have the third test event with 52 thousand".

Is this disaster management? Put in place the pieces for a tragedy then when it happens use it to go after solutions that ought to have been in place already? "We don't want that happening again!"

He didn't come across well yesterday. I give him some slack about the lack of planning, I do reckon the club's ownership, loss of Usmanov's money and real possibility of going under did make things hard to plan for.

That said, his response that Sandhills will only be busy on match days shows a staggering lack of ambition on his part. Surely BMD is seen as a catalyst for the development of that whole area.
never do that, it's the margin they smugly operate in.

The club have confirmed 4 full stadium events over the summer + 15 smaller events in the concourse part. That number of 19 isn't an accident (19 home games per season).

This is starting to look like shackling the new Everton ground, stymie the transport, and let fc bigstand catch up in competing for non football events. Throw a few fatalities on a railway platform in just for some extra bad press and jobs a good un...

Perhaps we should have a draft email and we all send it to him, there are a lot of members on here, who if combined would surely be heard?
Maybe not target him, as he's a bit slimy and shrugs it off, but let his immediate team know...repeatedly... that there is a problem, you don't chop a tree down from the top...

Social media has a part to play in highlighting issues immediately but is easily dismissed by someone as hard faced as Rotherham.

It needs to be backed up by emails/letters to his official address so that it is logged by the Mayor’s office. The official route means he can’t hide from FOI requests asking questions such as “how many complaints did you receive about the inadequate rail provision at Sandhills” etc.
A combination of “official” communication from the Club,Shareholder Association, Fans clubs alongside many individual letters from supporters is hard to dismiss. I’m wondering if an “open letter to Steve Rotherham” from various “official” signatories would get good media attention and traction.

I think the focus of our challenges should be more on his competence as a Mayor presiding over a regeneration project worth close to £1bn(as a starter) for the City of Liverpool as opposed to just being about Everton and the more partisan aspects.
What has he done to facilitate more investment to support this project plus plan for future projects that includes future infrastructure needs.
What did he do to try and rescue the Astra Zeneca vaccine factory investment etc?

In addition, constant references to how Manchester is forging ahead under a pro-active regional Mayor will sting someone with an ego like his.
You got there in the last line, maybe emailing Burnham with the concerns for safety might tip the balance, he won't want to stick his oar in but might make a phone call that this situation is escalating out of hand and the moment there is an issue the blue touch paper is lit and going...
