Been really disappointed in the lad so far. Seemed a decent signing. When you look at Maguire going to Leicester for quite a bit less of a fee, and see how he's progressed, there's no comparison.

Won't happen for the same reason we won't be able to sell Klaasen..

Keane was on 30k a week at Burnley.... With us he's on around 90k a week.....
Burnley will (wisely) come nowhere near meeting that kind of contract offer...no other club will either.... So unless its a loan deal where we pay atleast half his wages, Keane is going nowhere..
You are making the same assumption as everybody else. That the players will always put money first above all else. Some will, but not all of them.

I'm talking specifically about Keane here, but the same principles can also apply to Klaassen.

The lad is clearly unhappy here. Every time I watch him he looks as though he is about to burst into tears. He's making a lot of mistakes and is getting slated for it by players and fans alike. Not sure I've ever seen Jags so animated as he was after Keane's blunder for the Porto goal. His skillset is not suited to the way Silva is likely to set up and he knows it. He knows that he will get very little game time under Silva.

Conversely his skillset is ideally suited to the way Burnley set up and he knows that Dyche will be happy to take him back if the price is right. He'll have to take a hit on the wages front but he can still expect to be on much more than he was when he left as he had run his contract down.

Burnley are in the market for a new defender. They are looking at both Mawson and Gibson, both of who would cost well over £20m. He could get Keane back, somebody he knows really well who fits his system, for probably as little as £15m. That's a £10m profit on the lad in 12 months which will more than cover the cost of his increased wages.

We have to take a hit on the transfer fee but it's worth it to get him off the books. I reckon Keane, and Klaassen for that matter, are both the type of character that will be prepared to take a a reduction in income if it means getting their careers back on track. Both players have also been dumped by their national teams whilst with us too which gives them extra incentive to leave. I might be wrong, but I wouldn't automatically take it for granted that they are purely motivated by money.

Now the likes of Williams and Mirallas, they're a different matter entirely. It will take salary subsidised loans to get them off the books this summer.

Good in the air.....sorry mate, you can’t have watched many games. The number of times I’ve come away from the match discussing his total inability to head a ball or time a header is significant.....it’s his biggest weakness and that’s saying something.
I've watched literally every game he's played in an Everton shirt and several for Burnley.

He gets his head on quite a few balls, even if he can't seem to put them in the net. But he indeed wins them all over the place. I will guarrantee you that you can't find more than 10 defenders in the entire league that win more headers than him per game.

To say that his biggest weakness is just silly. Silly.

It's like people saying he's slow when he's been objectively clocked as fast.

He has enough flaws that we don't need to make up stuff.

Really kind of agree with this. Gotta figure Dyche would take him back in an instant.

He looks so sad, bereft of laughter, starved of hope. I genuinely think he's about to burst into a Niagara of tears at any moment. I've rarely seen a worse case of homesickness...send Michael... (or, as he's lovingly referred to as at FF)... send Snail home...

I think he may well have a future under Silva.
In the pre season fames so far there gave been errors made by several players and at least some of these are caused by uncertainty as to what is wanted by the manager. Silva gas used him a lot so far and has generally done well. I thought our midfield took a share of the blame for the Porto goal.
On a free kick against us we were defending on the edge of the box and Porto nearly scored but that is down to the coaches. We will see different things being tried and some mistakes being made for a while yet.
I think Silva is looking for someone to play alongside Keane. I am a bit surprised Holgate has not been used more.

He likes to press and play a high line. Keano ain't built for that.

Think everybody needs to accept that Keane wont be going anywhere.

Just accept it and make peace with it.

I wish it wasn't true, but it probably is. I figure he'll be off the bench if we are up and need to pack it in a bit. That's about it, though, unless Mina comes and is a disaster, which I think he's okay.
