Based on what?

Because Keane didn't have a good season last year and Holgate had a decent few games.

Keane won young player of the year at Man U ahead of Jesse Lingard, 4 England caps, around 100 prem appearances, nominated for PFA young player of the year in 2016/7.

Doesn't sound crap, he was just one of many in our squad that had a poor season last year and deserves a chance in a settled team.

Why did Man U get shut of him and keep Lingard ?.

Answer - Because they saw that he was as good as he was going to get, where as Lingard would keep improving ( debatable I know ). Then punted him to Burnley, where he found his level in a deep lying back four.

He`s not capable of playing in a high line, due to his lack of pace and mobility, where as Holgate is.

Worth adding that Keane's reading of the game appears abysmal which compounds his lack of mobility.

@Eggs will support my take on Keane. He's seen more football than me though so he can probably think of somebody as bad or worse in 1 v 1 situations.

..it’s as though his feet are nailed to the turf, he’s an absolute joy to run against. He’s an absolute joy to run down the channels, he’s an absolute joy if he’s marking you with your back to goal. If I was a striker in this league i’d be looking forward to playing against him.

To be effective you have to build your team to compensate his weaknesses.

I think Keane will come good, I really do. If by some miracle of miracles we manage to get Mina, or any other solid new CB, then I really believe Keane will settle and become more confident, therefore perform much better.

Agreed mate. I can see forwards across the league watching his tapes and just salivating at the prospect of getting him isolated...and managers scheming to do so.

So in summary, he`s a bag of crap.
