I’d agree with players getting a clean slate if their previous form or attitude seemed a one off, then you could put it down to a manager but when we’ve had the same issues with them under multiple managers you just have to call it for what it is

Wouldn’t agree with the bit in bold either, he had a good final 9 or 10 games the rest of the season before that he was awful
I’d say Mina has had a good season as has holgate and sidibe
I think Mina has been the best of the defenders, Holgate has only played probably three games in defence through no fault of his own and Sidibe can be excellent or very ordinary.

I think my point in general is that I think any defence needs a well functioning midfield ahead of it and we have not seen that often enough.

I don't particularly want to make a defence for Michael Keane, because for me it is mobility that he lacks. I think he has a lot of very good attributes but a lack of mobility means that if he makes a mistake as all players do he doesn't have the recovery to cover his mistake.
However , a new manager setting up a team in a different way may surprise us with the players he favours. I think that sometimes players have to sacrifice their preferred team to play a particular role their manager may want and sometimes that can make them look less of a player.

It’s genuinely weird the way 90% of last season has been erased from people’s memories. This time last year he was playing appallingly, the runaround he got against Spurs was truly something to behold.
If we were to use games like that as a barometer we would have a squad of about four for Ancelotti to work with.

And if we want to be successful there’s only about 4 who I’d back to get us there.

That’s not what I was saying though. Keane’s been here 2 1/2 years and I’d say at least 70% of that time he’s been poor to average. He’s just not a high quality player in my opinion, he’s premier league quality, easily, but there’s a reason the best he’s ever done is finish 7th. He’s just not very good.

There is a good, albeit very confidence heavy, player in there, he just needs the confidence issues driven out of him and come out his nervy shell more
You're probably right but in the past we've bought players with questionable mentalities,Ancelotti will be looking for self motivated players who dont need and arm round them. Winners
