I think it’s helped that ancelotti played a way which didn’t require Keane to be fast.

Silva’s football meant he got left 1 on 1 high up the pitch and got burned.

Him alongside a top ball playing defender would be nice.
He is a top ball playing defender mate. Which player have you been watching. He's absolutely excellent on the ball.

Kean's performances have been great and obviously a big surprise to his many
critics on this site. The fact that Carlo gave him a new contract confirmed my impressions
of him, that he is reliable, strong and relatively injury free.

But his passing has become top-class too and his partnership with Mina works. If EFC
buy a new centre-half then the centre-back options really become an issue, especially if Gibson
does well at Reading.

Hes been immense this season. Fair play big Mick. Its great to see everyone full of confidence and looking like they are really enjoying playing for Everton. James, Allan and Doucoure coming in has taken things up a notch in terms of quality. Sink or swim now for a lot of these players and its good to see Sigurdson and Delph putting in good performances today but the likes of Coleman, Keane, DCL and even Digne have raised their level on the back of it. Its such a good time for us.

Lot of people should hold their hands up and admit they were wrong with Keane.
Been superb since Carlo took over.
Am one of them tbh hold me hands up he looks a different player .Seems a lot more confident and relaxed on the ball. Looking back at last season who wouldn't be on edge thou having schniderlin Davies and sigurdsson as your midfield protectors .

Happy to eat crow on this one. I have never rated Keane mostly based on his inability to cope with more athletic strikers he used to struggle against.

@Eggs, what are your thoughts on this specific improvement that both of us feared would always be a problem?

....coincidentally, just mentioning in the match thread that the pirouette and through ball for the first goal was a memorable moment in the match. No doubt he’s at the top of his game and definitely first choice CB. We know his confidence is fragile but he’s playing with belief. I honestly think the birth of his first child is a factor.

I still see frailties and admit that he’s not my favourite but Kean deserves all the plaudits and fair play to the lad.

Keane’s apparent renaissance under Ancelotti has happily proved my opinion of the player to be totally wrong.
I always prefer to be wrong in my poor assessment of an Everton player than vice versa.

He has had his issues with confidence and mentality in the past, but there's no doubt for me that he has the ability to be a very good defender in this league.

I always thought he could only play in deep park the bus type defenses, I think the notion that he's always been good on the ball is complete nonsense he was like a bull in a china shop at times and would just boot it out which is why I questioned is he good enough in Ancelotti's possession based defense but yeah he's massively improved since lockdown matches looks a proper figure.
I mean he's massive and strong he should be scaring strikers.
