I dislike Michael keane as much as anyone but there's nothing he can do about a ball hitting him from 2 yards away with his hands down

It was blasted at him from 3 yards. There is a reason VAR didn’t worry about it.

From the only camera angle that was shown, it was clear both hands moving towards the ball blocking the shot. Hard to tell if the shot was on target. That might be the reason it’s not given. On another day, another referee and they might interpret it differently. Doesn’t matter how far or how fast the ball travel. If the hand blocks a shot that is on target, intentional or not, it will be considered a foul.

He started off shaky giving the ball away a few times but really solid after that. Once all he has to do is defend he is usually ok.

That’s just not correct, if the ball is blasted at his hand (and his hand is in a natural position) from 2 or 3 yards away it’s never going to be given.
