May as well persist with the guy. Played well.
No he isn't, don't changing a winning team, besides is Mina even back? I haven't checked when Colombia are playingLet's not go overboard, he's out the next game if mina is back.
Hope frankie agrees with you. Poor defender, always seems flat footed, slow and not really good with the ball.Let's not go overboard, he's out the next game if mina is back.
He has basic ability as a centre half - and I'd have him over Holgate and Godfrey all day long -but he needs a partner who is more assured - and the best we have is Mina - though I do rate Branthwaite.
Keane should never be charged with bringing the ball out though. He's not Beckenbauer.
That's where our midfield let him down. They should be taking it from him to play killer balls.
Delph and Allan helped him massively yesterday - and Iwobi also played really well.
Keep it simple Michael lad.
He is the best example of what is wrong with this Everton squad. He was good yesterday, solid and no significant errors. Unfortunately there are too many games when he makes at least one absolute howler that inevitably leads to conceding a goal. Same as Holgate, Doucoure, Allan, Godfrey, Coleman, Iwobi. Players who when you see them on the teamsheet could give you an 8/10 performance or a 4/10. This is mentality rather than ability. Also explains the inability to play at an away ground when the crowd aren’t fully behind you and the inevitable capitulation when they fall behind.
Recruitment needs to focus on players who are mentally resilient and focused as well as being decent footballers.

People keep parroting this and it’s rubbish. So no player who is slow can play in a high line? Like Keane’s the only reason we don’t play a high line. Rubbish. It’s obviously a massive plus to have recovery pace but the point, if you play a high line, is that the midfield and forwards, press and pressure the opposition, as soon as you lose the ball and stop the opposition playing balls in behind the defence. If they can’t do that, they drop, regroup and get in front of the defence to cut out passing lanes. He`s a centre half who can`t play in a high line, which effectively limits the whole team to one style of football to accommodate him.
Along with Kenny and Holgate, needs to be one of the first out of the door.

If you’re going to play a high line, with a midfield/forwards who don’t press, don’t pressure the opposition, are wide open every time we lose the ball and let them have all the time in the world to play balls over the top, down the side then any defender in the world is going to look stupid playing a high line, particularly slow ones. That shouldn’t be happening though if the midfield/forwards are functioning effectively.
The truth is we’ve not had a midfield or forward line working effectively enough with enough mobility to play high line without massively exposing the defence - whoever’s playing in it. Keane was fine with Zouma when Marco Silva was here, he didn’t play a low block. Had gana closing down everything and pressuring as soon as we lost the ball though. You can’t play a high line with the likes of Schenederlin, Gomes, Siggi, James etc suicide.
All of that said, Keane isn’t an ideal defender to play a high line, I get it but the narrative that we’re playing a certain way purely to accommodate him is bollocks, frankly.
