Good game, very good in the 2nd half. Key header to get us back in the game and was pinging the ball about good style. Mina and him worked well against their big hoofs.

As mentioned in the match thread, before all the madness, last night was the 4th season in 5 that Keane bagged his first goal early on, like Iwobi with League Cup games

2017/18 - the second against Hadjuk Split in the Europa qualifier

2018/19 - the 2nd at Bournemouth in the 2-2 game (3rd game of season)

2019/20 - Didn’t score his first till the first goal back in the 5-2 Derby hammering that ended Silva’s reign

2020/21 - the first against Salford in the League Cup

2021/22 - the equaliser last night

Looked better once he was moved out of the left of the back three and into the middle, looked better further when he was in a back 2. This is a game he’s designed for though and he was still pretty poor. Every time the ball comes his way there’s a bit of panic. I’d get rid of him tomorrow if I could but annoyingly Benitez seems to have taken a liking to him.

Thumbs down to that. Pretty poor? Watching a different game to me. Thought he, like the whole team were poor first half. Second half thought he was top notch, goal was massive turning point of the game, great header. Some excellent distribution as well, pinging balls out from the back with accuracy.

Yes, it’s funny how every manager we’ve had has him as one of the first names on the team sheet but guess you and some of the other punters on here know better.

Maybe that’s one of the reasons we’ve been so [Poor language removed]

Well every manager we’ve had before this one has massively failed and ended up being fired or walking out of the club after a tenth place finish, so maybe they’re not as all knowing as we think.

To add to that he’s been personally at fault for half the goals we’ve conceded this season which without his stupid errors we’d be top now on points by ourselves.

He’s getting praise for things like winning headers and playing passes out correctly at times in the second half. Isn’t that what all centrebacks should do, let alone ones that cost 30 mill. I’d also like them to do it when the games at 0-0 not 3-1 up, instead he spent 3/4 of the game looking like he was about to pop himself and just shanking every single clearance out of play. He had to be swapped with Godfrey once Benitez realised he can’t deal with a ball down the channel.

But yeah he headed some balls and kept possession for a good 30 mins at the end there so let’s all praise him.

He’ll undermine the team again and again this season mark my words. Why? Because he’s done exactly that since he came to the club. Slow in the mind, slow in the body, and has a crisis of confidence whenever things aren’t perfect. Burnley is his level, should never have stepped up.

Maybe it is maybe it isn’t but assuming you accept the likes of Rafael, Carlo etc having worked with some of the best centre backs in world football, know a bit more about judging a centre back than you, and seeing as how they see these guys in training every day, I’ll take their judgement.
