Well every manager we’ve had before this one has massively failed and ended up being fired or walking out of the club after a tenth place finish, so maybe they’re not as all knowing as we think.

To add to that he’s been personally at fault for half the goals we’ve conceded this season which without his stupid errors we’d be top now on points by ourselves.

He’s getting praise for things like winning headers and playing passes out correctly at times in the second half. Isn’t that what all centrebacks should do, let alone ones that cost 30 mill. I’d also like them to do it when the games at 0-0 not 3-1 up, instead he spent 3/4 of the game looking like he was about to pop himself and just shanking every single clearance out of play. He had to be swapped with Godfrey once Benitez realised he can’t deal with a ball down the channel.

But yeah he headed some balls and kept possession for a good 30 mins at the end there so let’s all praise him.

He’ll undermine the team again and again this season mark my words. Why? Because he’s done exactly that since he came to the club. Slow in the mind, slow in the body, and has a crisis of confidence whenever things aren’t perfect. Burnley is his level, should never have stepped up.
Whatever Trevor…

The goal will mask his poor performance in my opinion. He is still 4th choice and he's still an accident waiting to happen. However he scored so people will be claiming it was the right decision. Maybe if we started with 4 at the back and him on the bench we wouldn't have needed a CB to score a goal we might have already been comfortable. Even when we went to 4 at the back he didn't really excel in his primary job defending as they barely threatened us.

I think that has more to do with a player that is no longer with the club. Defensively we were always fine. It’s the final third we have struggled massively in prior to this season and so far we have been prolific.

Keane is one of the best distributors in the team, which is why he starts every game. We are a counter attacking side so we have to have a CB that can play it accurately.

Keane and Sigurdsson both came in during the idiotic summer of 2017. They have both been pretty much first choice as several managers have failed. One is out the picture and with a bit of luck so soon will Keane. Maybe then we'll start repairing some of the damage.

Williams Keane Schneiderlin Davies Siggurdson have been the rotting spine of Everton for too long. I just want them all gone so we’re finally rid of them. There’s loads of others I could chuck in too but for different reasons that lot have been a disgrace on the pitch.

For those bigging up Keane, how many premier league level centrebacks do you see getting caught on the ball when they were under no pressure whatsoever leading to a goal like Keane did against Southampton? Amateur stuff you might see on Fifa when someone who hasn’t played it before is playing. You might not see that again all season. He’s complete codswallop yet he does the basics like heading and boring balls out of play and people think he’s great.

I personally don't mind Davies as a 4th/5th choice if we play 2 or 6th/7th choice if we play a 3. There are a few ahead of him on the out list but I absolutely agree with your sentiment.

Keane is good as a last ditch defender in a compact team who are happy to finish 9th-13th. I want so much more. He is decent on the ball but then he gives it away at the worst times. He's to slow for a high line and he doesn't have Mina presence. Also he seems to suffer when crowds are there as his best form was 2020 when most games were behind closed doors. Also compared to Holgate he isn't even an option at RB or DM as he would be absolutely destroyed which is why if we get the new CB I crave I'd rather keep Holgate as 4th choice.

I actually thought he had turned the corner and then he got left out by England and he's been a liability ever since. Tragically he got a new contract so I think he'll take some shifting.

He's absolutely terrible and a goal last night doesn't mask that. It was a great header and I'm pleased he scored it but he went missing for their goal and has single-handedly cost us two goals already this season with ridiculous errors that you wouldn't even see in League One. The sad news is we won't see the back of him any time soon due to him being given a silly contract extension last season. Given that, I can stomach him as third choice centre half, but he can't be starting many games for us.

The issue with Davies as any choice is that when injuries hit he becomes first choice and then we’re going to Stamford Bridge, Anfield, the Etihad, Old Trafford with a midfield of Davies and at best Docuoure, at worst it could be Davies with a slower player like Allan or Gomes. They’re then up agaisnt De Bruyne, Pogba, Fernandes, Fabinho, Kante, etc. and just get absolutely embarrassed by them with us chasing shadows all match because our man in the middle of the park runs half as quickly as the players he’s trying to compete with.

Unlike the other names in that list I don’t hate Davies because like Kenny and Coleman he’s given everything but he just suffers from not being good enough. In fairness Keane probably falls into that category too. Just because they’re likeable blokes who try a bit doesn’t mean they’re suitable for a team trying to get into the top 4. Which of the top 4 would have any of them even in their squad? None, so why are we indulging some of them in our first team.

Schneiderlin Siggurdson and Williams really attract my ire because they all were better players than they ever showed at Everton where they just sacked off being half competent footballers and messed around for years.

My issue with Keane is its confidence and I'm not sure you can change someone so fragile. He will never be good enough to be first choice and anything else will adversely affect his confidence.

Schneiderlin started well then faded badly and didn't seem interested in trying. Williams fell off a cliff due to age. Sigurdsson was good where expectations were low. However once he was expected to be main man and actually achieve he just hid in plain sight. It was embarrassing at times.

Goal down, poor performance, crowd starting to murmur with discontent and up steps Michael Keane to score a goal that starts the turnaround and leads to a win. But he's mentally fragile and wilts when there are crowds.

But isnt that the crowd at fault? Whats wrong with supporting the team, even at one on Monday 3 points were there for the taking
