…I don’t get these throwaway statements like ‘he’s nowhere near ready to play in the PL’. He was terrific at Chelsea in a rearguard action last season & even popped up with the equaliser & he received plenty of plaudits against English opposition in the Champions League.

He‘ll make mistakes like the one that led to his sending off last season but he’s very decent at both ends of the pitch. i get the impression Lampard likes him, hence the January ‘bring-back’ clause in this loan deal.

He played against Brentford and Arsenal at the end of last season and struggled badly. The red card he picked up with just pure inexperience.

Recalling him is a no brainer.

I think he'll be sent on loan elsewhere until the end of the season. January and summer we have to move other Centre backs on to create a pathway and funds for other positions
