Yes indeed, from the facts in the report Michael Keane was player Y. If he had been sold there likely would have been no breach.

In his evidence Mr Purdy agreed the fact of the removal but explained it by the fact that Keane’s potential sale was
being handled by Mr Kenwright and therefore the removal of his name from the regular lists did not mean that Everton would not have been willing to sell
Keane. Second, although his contract was not about to expire, Keane was given a new contract during the summer 2020 transfer window. "

So he was earmarked for sale (same in Jan 2022) and then mysteriously was not only kept but his deal was extended.
