2024/25 Michael Keane

I remember the night well. He was on my side of the pitch and so I went up against him a lot. I was twisting and turning looking to get crosses in - and he was struggling to keep up that much that by the end of the night he had his shorts on the wrong way round.

It was 'pre pre-season' like, so he'd probably been on the ale and eat too many pies.

Anyway, I couldn't help think at that point I should have played for Everton rather than him.
Sounds like Hibs legend Joe McBride in Everton training, you his cousin ?

We should have been able to get rid of him over the last 18 months. Huge failure by those responsible. £30m player - another one - walking out of the door for absolutely nothing. Shameful recruitment.
Dyche loved him so doubt there was the appetite to get rid of him. He was Dyche’s first choice centre half at the start of the last 2 seasons let’s not forget

Can’t see many clubs lining up to match his 80k a week wages either

But I suppose Thelwell will get blamed for this too

No blame on any one person in particular, just a huge collective failure by a. Whoever thought of him as a £30m player, b. Whoever offered him a massively inflated contract, c. Whoever decided to reward him with contract extensions, d. Whoever saw his performances and didn't move heaven and earth to get rid. But we've seen it all before with so many players - hopefully those days are coming to an end very soon.

That'd be Marcel Brands, also responsible for Holgate's stupid contract and I believe Godfrey's

When he was signed he was a top buy. In theory...

….you can’t ’get rid’ of players who don’t want to go. It’s often the case for ordinary footballers on extraordinary contracts. Saying that, it’s come a point where we need him as cover so it was unlikely he’d been allowed to go in January even if he was prepared to leave.

Prepare yourself, given our desperate contract situation, it’s not impossible that the likes of Keane and Doucoure could be offered new deals
